A Driving Instructor is responsible for teaching students the rules of the road and the safe way to handle an automobile or motorcycle. This may involve both classroom and/or behind the wheel instruction. They are required to remain up to date with their regional and national traffic laws to insure proper curriculum and demonstration. Some inform their students on the process to obtain a valid driver's license in their region or nation.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience. Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements required. Texas School Bus driver Certification and Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certifications required. No greater than five (5) points on driving record at time of hire. Must hold a CDL of the same class or higher with all required endorsements necessary to operate the commercial motor vehicle (CMV) for which training is provided. Must meet all applicable state qualification requirements for CMV Instructors including a minimum of two (2) years of experience operating a CMV requiring a CDL of the same class with the applicable endorsement, or a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Behind-the-Wheel CMV Instructor.
