A Driving Instructor is responsible for teaching students the rules of the road and the safe way to handle an automobile or motorcycle. This may involve both classroom and/or behind the wheel instruction. They are required to remain up to date with their regional and national traffic laws to insure proper curriculum and demonstration. Some inform their students on the process to obtain a valid driver's license in their region or nation.
Key Responsibilities Deliver FPS-approved training courses in accordance with established policies and procedures. Conduct classroom, hands-on, and scenario-based training for FPS personnel. Ensure all training activities comply with DHS and FPS requirements. Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback. Maintain accurate training records, reports, and documentation. Support mission readiness initiatives through professional instruction and coaching. Stay current on applicable regulations, policies, and training methodologies. Required Qualifications Active Firearms Instructor Certification from one of the following: NRA Firearms Instructor Virginia DCJS Firearms Instructor Maryland Firearms Instructor SOMB Firearms Instructor Demonstrated experience delivering firearms and/or security-related training. Strong presentation, communication, and classroom management skills. Ability to conduct both classroom and practical exercises effectively. Knowledge of DHS, FPS, and security training standards. Additional Requirements Must pass a medical exam and drug screening Must be a U.S. Citizen Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly Must be able to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends Golden
