POSITION OVERVIEW
Position title: Economics Business and Accounting Pre-six Lecturer Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach a standard five-credit course is $12,281-$13,823 (based on salary points 12-16). Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year. Percent time: Variable, based on the course load assigned. Anticipated start: Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2026 through fall quarter 2027. Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment. Position duration: Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Department of Economics at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach courses in the following areas: Business - marketing, finance, business strategy, and entrepreneurship. Accounting - financial, managerial, cost, accounting information systems, auditing, taxation, and advanced accounting. Teaching assignments may be at the undergraduate or graduate levels and the selected candidates must be able to work with students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds as well as be ready to deliver online instruction. Applicants with any of the following qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply: College or university-level teaching experience (as the instructor of record). Ph.D. or equivalent foreign degree in economics or related field (applicable to those interested in teaching non-accounting business courses). Successful experience teaching large lecture courses. Work experience in a sector relevant to advertised course topics. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the inclusive excellence of the academic community. Internal candidates will be given priority consideration.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualifications (required at the time the application is submitted) CPA, MBA, or MA/MS degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in economics, business, or a field relevant to advertised course topics. Work or research experience in accounting, business or economics, or computer programming. Teaching experience demonstrated by college level teaching, TA experience, research presentations, or professional development training seminars.
