Job Description

DESCRIPTION
Thomas University, an independent, not-for-profit, institution of higher education in Thomasville, Georgia invites applications for the position of Chair of the Division of Education. The chair oversees and promotes the division's academic programs, scholarship, service, and outreach. The chair provides strategic leadership, evaluation, and mentoring and professional development for faculty and staff within the division. The chair is responsible for leading the division and enhancing its relationships with other departments within the university and with local school districts, 2-year colleges, and community stakeholders. This is an on-campus position located in Thomasville, Ga. Preferred start is January 2027 but an August 2027 start may be considered for exceptional candidates.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Earned doctorate in Education, specialization open, with academic credentials sufficient to merit appointment at the rank of either Associate or Full Professor Demonstrated success managing programmatic accreditation Demonstrated success with program development and oversight, budget oversight, and program assessment Significant experience with and strong commitment to educator preparation programs Evidence of excellence in teaching and commitment to student success across undergraduate and graduate programs Demonstrated success in faculty development, including mentoring across career stages and supporting promotion and advancement Track record of successful collaboration and relationship building with school district and 2-year college partners and community stakeholders Expertise in online instruction and program development (Canvas is the preferred platform)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
K-12 teaching experience Experience with Georgia Professional Standards Commission program approval processes Experience with Canvas LMS and Jenzabar CMS Experience fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative academic programming Leadership in state, regional, or national professional organizations related to the division's disciplines.
