Job Description
This position is posted in compliance with Alabama Code §16-22-15. It is the intent to place a current employee in this position. The Student Services Coordinator provides comprehensive enrollment and student services to prospective and new students at Wallace State Community College's Oneonta Center and serves as a primary point of contact for schools, students, families, and community partners throughout the Oneonta Service Area. The Student Services Coordinator assists students throughout the enrollment process, including recruitment, admissions, financial aid, onboarding, advising, registration, and referral to appropriate College resources. This position develops strong relationships with area high schools and other educational and community partners and conducts proactive outreach designed to increase college access, enrollment, persistence, and student success. Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective and new students at the Oneonta Center, providing comprehensive assistance throughout the enrollment and registration process. Assist students with admissions, enrollment, registration, and related requirements, including navigating College systems, completing required documentation, and resolving barriers to enrollment. Provide initial academic advising and enrollment guidance, including information regarding academic programs, career pathways, course selection, placement, prerequisites, transfer opportunities, and College policies and procedures. Provide front-line assistance regarding financial aid, FAFSA completion, scholarships, eligibility requirements, deadlines, and other financial aid processes, referring students to Financial Aid personnel when specialized assistance is required. Coordinate and conduct recruitment and outreach activities throughout assigned service area, including school visits, college fairs, classroom presentations, parent programs, application events, registration events, orientations, and other enrollment initiatives. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with area high schools, counselors, administrators, teachers, career coaches, employers, community organizations, workforce partners, and other stakeholders to support recruitment and enrollment efforts. Conduct proactive outreach and follow-up with prospective, admitted, and current students to encourage completion of enrollment requirements and promote student persistence, retention, completion, transfer, and career success. Collaborate with Admissions, Recruiting, Financial Aid, Advising, Dual Enrollment, Student Services, faculty, and other College departments to connect students with appropriate resources and provide a seamless student experience. Maintain accurate documentation of student interactions and outreach activities, utilize College information and customer relationship management systems, and monitor enrollment activity to support recruitment and enrollment goals. Represent Wallace State Community College professionally at school, community, workforce, and College events; maintain confidentiality of student information; comply with FERPA and applicable College, state, and federal requirements. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, required, or directed by the College. The College reserves the right to assign additional tasks and to alter or reassign job duties as necessary to meet business and operational needs. In order to perform these essential functions, the Student Services Coordinator must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential function. A bachelor's degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution is required. Must have experience in higher education, student services, enrollment management, advising, admissions, recruiting, financial aid, education, customer service, or a closely related field. Must have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school personnel, employers, and community partners. Must be proficient in the use of administrative computing systems and commonly used software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and other digital communication tools. Must be able to take initiative and work independently, meet regular deadlines, and maintain the confidentiality of student information.
