Work Schedule Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; schedule cannot exceed 19.5 hours/week. Job Summary A new Federal Work-Study position is now available in the Recruitment and Outreach department at GateWay Community College for an Outreach Specialist role. Additional Information In order to qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial needs based on the college requirements. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information prior to applying to a Federal Work-Study job. FWS is a need-based, federally funded program. FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office. FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program. The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals. For more detailed information, please go to the MCCCD Federal Work-Study Website Essential Functions Provides triage support for the Welcome Desk at Enrollment Services. Guides students with admissions, records and registration processes, guiding students through process and next steps, including basic knowledge of Fields of Interest. Assists with campus tours, new student orientations, new student outreach initiatives, and college recruitment events. Refers students to other departments based on needs. Enthusiasm to learn school-specific data systems like SIS, HCM, and appointment calendars. Assists with data entry and capture as directed. Provides support to the Recruitment and Outreach team with other duties as needed. Minimum Qualifications Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours or more at GateWay, have unmet financial need, and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards. Desired Qualifications Comfortable presenting to small groups of students for campus tours. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Conflict resolution skills with diverse groups of students, staff, faculty, and the public. Adhere to a schedule and meet deadlines. Prioritize tasks effectively in an office environment . Knowledge of office productivity software (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, etc) and basic computer technology. Adhere to strict student/faculty confidentiality. Special Working Conditions Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require numerous evenings or weekends. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen.
