ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
The Assistant Principal is the executive officer of the Principal and exercises immediate supervisory and educational control, under the general supervision of the principal, over student discipline, guidance, athletics and co-curricular activities. Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the principal in the absence of the principal. In addition, he/she: Performs duties and responsibilities in accordance with the District and State policies, rules, regulations and laws. Supervises school parking, traffic issues and student transportation. Prepares assignments for co-curricular activities. Assist the principal in supervising and evaluating certificated and classified personnel. Administers the guidance advisory program as assigned. Administers the athletic program as assigned. Assists in the preparation of the master teaching schedule. Administers the school testing program as assigned. Sets up and supervises a program of before-and-school supervision of buildings and grounds by teachers. Complete such administrative reports and keep such administrative records as required. Deals with issues affecting the welfare and safety of all students during the school day including the periodic administration of fire drills. Works with disciplinary cases, arranges for probation, suspension and expulsion with approval of the principal. Confers with students and parents pertaining to attendance and discipline, checks on student attendance and coordinates with school nurse. Works with police and juvenile authorities as necessary. Assists in coordinating the placement of "special" students with Admission and Dismissal Committee. Assists in the supervision of pupil conduct at school and during extracurricular activities, including the supervision of assembly conduct. Supervises student government; acts as assistant advisor to the student body as assigned. Plans and supervises the social activities in the school and attends social functions. Acts as an administrative representative on curriculum within the school. Assists with orientation of new teachers concerning curriculum and instruction. Assists teachers in classroom instructions. Makes recommendations for improvement in custodial service with regards to the buildings and grounds. Assists in writing goals and performance objectives in his\her assignments. Performs other duties as assigned.
