Job Description

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) protect the public's health and supports creation of positive health outcomes for individuals, families, and communities in collaboration with local health departments and state, federal and private partners. This position provides information technology support for programs and their laboratories on CDPH's Richmond Laboratory Campus, a 29-acre site in Richmond, California. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is seeking to hire a detail-oriented, energetic, personable, and self-motivated student assistant for an opportunity at our Richmond laboratory campus. The ideal candidate will be able to take initiative, demonstrate strong customer service skills, and work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. This position also offers valuable experience with new and emerging technologies in both office and laboratory settings. Conditions of Employment This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check: educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript) or DMV clearance. Prerequisites Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (fall, spring, and winter, if applicable) at an accredited college or university. 00 per hour Minimum Qualifications Student Assistants must have good customer services skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment as a team member. Maintain consistent and regular attendance; communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) in dealing with the public and/or other employees. Develop and maintain knowledge and skill related to specific tasks, methodologies, materials, tools, and equipment. Complete assignments in a timely and efficient manner.

Duties and Responsibilities Assist with installing, configuring, and imaging new computer hardware. Assist with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting software. Assist with installing and configuring state issued mobile devices as well as personal devices. Installation and troubleshooting the Microsoft family of products including Microsoft OS, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, for example. Provide general technical support of various software's used on campus. Provide support to remote users. Troubleshoot network equipment and servers. Document procedures and create training guides related to work tasks.

Other work as required that may include Administrative and Clerical Support. Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
