Afternoon hours (from school dismissal until program closing at 6:00 PM)
Status:
Part-Time / Seasonal About the Role Lotus School for Excellence is seeking a dedicated, organized, and energetic Aftercare Director to lead our K-8 aftercare program. The Director serves as the on-site program director responsible for operating the center in accordance with Colorado state licensing rules. This role ensures a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for students while managing aftercare staff, designing engaging enrichment activities, and maintaining strong communication with families and school administration.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Management & Operations Compliance:
Oversee daily operations in strict accordance with state licensing rules. Ensure the Program License is renewed annually and properly displayed at the school entrance.
Inspections & Drills:
Maintain Health, Fire, County, and State inspections before expiration. Conduct and log monthly/quarterly fire, tornado, and lockdown drills.
Activity Planning:
Develop engaging enrichment activities (arts and crafts, STEM projects, homework assistance, outdoor play, and recreational games) alongside special themed events.
Documentation & Reporting:
Monitor student attendance, maintain accurate daily payment logs, and ensure records are approved and maintained in the Colorado Shines Provider
PDIS CCAP
Portal .
Health & Safety:
Partner with the School Nurse to manage student Immunization Records, track student health needs/allergies, and ensure proper communication with staff. Log daily student snacks.
Admin & HR:
Prepare annual Student Registration Packets and updated Parent Handbooks prior to orientations. Ensure staff time sheets are accurate, signed, and submitted to HR by the monthly payroll deadline.
Staff Supervision & Leadership Team Management:
Supervise, schedule, train, mentor, and evaluate aftercare staff and substitutes.
Training Compliance:
Ensure mandatory staff training in PDIS is kept current. Conduct annual, mandatory on-site property training and maintain signed staff acknowledgments.
Safety Ratios:
Ensure appropriate staff-to-student ratios and maintain active supervision of all children at all times.
Communication & Collaboration Family Relations:
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student behavior, program updates, and any care concerns.
School Integration:
Collaborate with school administration, teachers, and families to support students' academic, social, and emotional development. Qualifications & State Licensing RequirementsCore Regulatory Pathways Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and meet at least one (1) of the following Colorado Department of Early Learning qualification pathways: Pathway A (Degree Major): A Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree from an accredited institution with a major in: Child Development, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Family/Human Development, Special Education, Outdoor Education, Recreation, or Human Services. Pathway B (Associate's / Credits + Experience): An Associate's degree or 60 semester credit hours, plus 3 months (455 hours) of verifiable experience in the care/supervision of 4+ unrelated children over the age of 4. Pathway C (Experience + Continuing Education): 21 months (3,185 hours) of verifiable experience in the care/supervision of 4+ unrelated children over the age of 4, PLUS either 6 semester college hours or 40 clock hours of school-age training within the first 9 months of hire. Pathway D (Credential): A current Early Childhood Professional Credential Level II (2) or higher in version 3.0. Certifications & Clearances Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain immediately). Ability to successfully pass required federal/state background checks and child protection clearances. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong classroom management, behavior management, and conflict-resolution skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with parents and school staff. Strong leadership, time management, and organizational abilities. Ability to maintain a positive, professional attitude under pressure.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements Presence:
Must be physically on-site for at least 70% of after-school care working hours to fulfill state licensing regulations.
Flexibility:
Attendance at ECE trainings, on-site training sessions, and flexibility to support special school events as required.
