POSITION GOAL

[BTB] Program

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Manage the daily operations of the assigned BTB program site. 2. Successfully complete assigned tasks by implementing the appropriate VCS and BTB procedures and policies. 3. Manage the program with good judgment and constructive authority. 4. Supervise designated personnel, including recruitment, selection, and training. 5. Meet regularly with program staff to assist with problem solving, discipline procedures and any suggestions. 6. Establish and maintain positive relations and communication with parents, school personnel, and district EDEP staff 7. Encourage school community (senior citizens, college students, volunteers) and parental (family) involvement in program activities through newsletters, flyers, etc. 8. Recommend expenditures within the program's financial plans to the Principal, broken down by anticipated supplies, equipment, and other expenses required for the program. Maintain and review the budget throughout the school year with administration. 9. Assist the site administration and district EDEP Specialist in determining the maximum number of students based on demand, space limitations and staff. 10. Plan, prepare, and implement a flexible, varied and stimulating daily program of appropriate activities conducive to constructive play and enrichment appropriate to the age group, and to meet the physical, emotional and intellectual needs of school-aged children. 11. Assist the BTB Site Assistants and Teachers with the placement and activities of the volunteers working with his/her group of children. 12. Assist the Principal in determining the need for and purchasing of program supplies and equipment. Ensure the equipment and materials are inventoried, arranged, accessible, and maintained in good condition. 13. In cooperation with school staff, maintain the work area, the classrooms, and playground areas in a neat and clean manner. 14. Ensure attendance records are maintained on a daily basis. 15. Ensure all required District and Program records and reports, including but not limited to attendance, tuition, supplies, financial and accident reports, are maintained in proper order, retrieved efficiently and submitted as required. 16. Participate in staff conferences to share pertinent information regarding the needs of various children when appropriate. 17. Assure confidentiality of any personally identifiable student and family data. 18. Coordinate and conduct parent conferences as needed. 19. Maintain existing procedures to safeguard the health and safety of the children in the program by becoming familiar with the program site layout and all emergency procedures: fire drills, severe weather drill, emergency evacuation procedures and others as needed. 20. Participate in and successfully complete in-service and staff development sessions as required (CPR, Meds Administration Training, STAR, etc. . . .). 21. Notify the District Facilitator and/or Principal/Administrator in a timely manner of the need to be absent. This notification may be required in writing 22. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Principal and/or Administrator.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

: Hold a High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent Experience in working effectively with and managing organized activities for children (volunteer or paid) Holds current certification or will successfully complete the following course during the first year of employment: First Aid/CPR Successful completion of the Volusia County Schools substitute teacher training course (STAR) within one (1) year of date of hire is preferred

Proficient at supervising and evaluating assigned staff and volunteers Effective customer relations skills Proficient at helping children through the trials and errors of normal growth and development Ability to implement departmental goals and strategies Highly developed planning and organizational skills Ability to develop and manage creative enrichment programs for students at the middle school level Proficient at establishing and managing a program budget Demonstrate basic computer skills in word processing, database, spreadsheet and graphics computer programs (may be required to demonstrate such at time of interview) Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form, including presentations and publications Ability to function as a member of a leadership team Ability to exercise good judgment regarding sensitive and confidential personnel and student matters Thorough knowledge of or the ability to research and implement Volusia County Schools' (VCS) discipline policy 208E Competent in maintaining promptness and attendance for work hours as scheduled
