Location Statesboro Campus - Statesboro, GA Department Information SOAR Orientation Job Summary The Student Assistant will support the SOAR Orientation as a SOAR Leader on the Statesboro Campus beginning Summer 2026. A SOAR leader serves as a mentor to new students and their families as they transition into the university. Providing both academic and social support, they assist with the execution of all in-person and virtual transition events. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period. Responsibilities Actively participates in all SOAR Leader Training, including Spring Training, Camp SOAR, and Summer Training Serves as a role model for all new students by displaying responsibility and maturity Facilitates small groups for incoming first-year freshmen and transfer/adult students Assists in the organization and preparation of orientation activities and processes Acclimates new students by enthusiastically sharing campus resources, engagement opportunities, and how to navigate campus Engages in conversations with new students and their family members and supporters Serves as a resource to all incoming new students by assisting them with any special needs and/or concerns Represents Georgia Southern University and the Office of New Student & Family Programs in a positive manner Develops and implements additional programming opportunities for new students through The Eagle Experience Shift Specifics Up to 15 hours per week Flexible with schedule of availability Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
