Location Statesboro Campus - Statesboro, GA Department Information University Athletics - Athletic Foundation Job Summary The Student Assistant will support the Athletic Foundation as a Operations Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Summer 2026. This position offers hands-on experience in the business and operational side of collegiate athletics, including fundraising strategy, donor relations, stewardship, communications, and event preparation within a Division I athletic environment. As the fundraising arm that supports Georgia Southern Athletics, the Athletic Foundation operates through annual giving, donor engagement, premium experiences, and strategic revenue generation. This role will provide valuable insight into how an athletic foundation functions on the business side of college athletics while supporting the mission of enhancing the student-athlete experience. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, detail-oriented, and eager to learn the behind-the-scenes operations that support Georgia Southern Athletics and the Eagle Nation community. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period. Responsibilities Assists the Athletic Foundation staff in preparation for the upcoming football season, including operational planning, donor communications, premium seating preparation, and game day readiness Gains exposure to the business and fundraising operations of a collegiate athletic foundation, including annual giving initiatives, donor engagement strategies, and revenue-generating efforts Supports the Erk Russell Fund through outbound donor outreach efforts, including cold calls and follow-up emails related to membership renewals, annual giving, and donor retention initiatives Helps close out the current fiscal year and assist with preparations and donor engagement efforts for the launch of the new fiscal year Participates in donor stewardship initiatives by helping develop, organize, and execute stewardship opportunities and appreciation efforts for Athletic Foundation members and supporters Assists with administrative and operational tasks related to fundraising events, donor benefits, premium hospitality areas, and membership services Collaborates with staff on creative ideas to enhance donor experience, communication strategies, and member engagement Maintains professionalism and confidentiality while interacting with donors, alumni, business partners, and supporters of Georgia Southern Athletics Shift Specifics Up to 25 hours per week Flexible with schedule of availability Shifts available Monday - Friday Some weekends and events as needed Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Experience Strong communication and interpersonal skills Comfortable speaking with donors and supporters over the phone and through email communication Organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Interest in sports administration, fundraising, business operations, communications, marketing, or athletic operations preferred Proposed Salary $10.00 per hour This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
