Elementary Assistant Principal Reports To:
Elementary Principal
Qualifications:
Current Illinois Professional Educator License with Administrative Endorsement. Spanish-speaking, preferred. Special Education, EL, Bilingual, and administrative experience, a plus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Principal supports the Principal in the leadership, administration, and daily operations of the elementary school. In the absence of the Principal, the Assistant Principal assumes responsibility for building operations. This position plays a key role in fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students, consistent with Board of Education policies and district priorities. Support teachers in designing and maintaining classroom environments that promote high levels of student engagement and learning Assist grade-level teams and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in analyzing student data to guide instruction and identify next steps Collaborate with school and district leaders to support programming and services for special education, English Learners (EL), and core instruction Oversee student behavior, discipline, and attendance systems in alignment with district policies and elementary best practices Work collaboratively with students, staff, and families to address behavioral concerns and promote positive student outcomes Assist in creating and sustaining a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate school environment Assist in the development and management of the master schedule Coordinate student supervision systems, including arrival/dismissal, lunch, and recess Support the planning and implementation of local and state assessment schedules Maintain smooth daily operations of the school, including supervision in the Principal's absence Assist in the supervision and evaluation of certified and classified staff Participate in the hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling of staff Build positive relationships with families and community members to support student success Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding student progress, school initiatives, and behavioral matters Contribute to the development and achievement of school and district goals Collaborate with administrators and district teams to support continuous improvement efforts Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or district administration
Physical Demands:
Ability to read and communicate effectively with employees of the district. Ability to carry out instructions provided in either written, diagram or oral form. Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects or controls, and reaching with hands and arms. Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 20 pounds. Compensation:

Salary Range:
