(BL-MSCH-IUBLA) Department Information The Media School at Indiana University is built on a decades-long tradition of journalism, film, media, and communication at one of the nation's premier public universities. Our programs focus on teaching, researching, and creating media from academic, creative, and professional perspectives. The Media School is committed to building and supporting a strong community of students, scholars, practitioners, and staff. Job Summary Department-Specific Responsibilities Reports to the director of student services. Supports the mission of The Media School by overseeing and delivering key experiential learning opportunities that develop and strengthen Media School undergraduate students' career competencies and academic success. Coordinates the administrative aspects of The Media School's travel programs, comprising an average of 10 domestic and international trips each year. Travel opportunities for Media School students include courses with a travel component, career treks, professional conferences, student reporting, and academic competitions. Responsibilities include booking hotels and flights, documenting trip details, processing student applications, complete post-trip assessments, financial reconciliation, etc. Develops and implements, in coordination with the student services team, a variety of impactful and relevant events for undergraduates in The Media School. Events include Welcome Week initiatives, Care Week activities, and 1 time events developed in response to current needs. Continuously evaluates and improves systems and tools used for program development, planning, and tracking Establishes and uses a variety of systems and tools to ensure all programming details are carefully tracked and deadlines are met. Coordinates with the school's communication team to promote programming. Coordinating with the alumni engagement and external partnership's team to use alumni contacts when planning student travel, helping to cultivate those relationships on behalf of the school. Collects and analyzes data to assess programming based on school and team goals. Ensures compliance with related IU policy and procedures. General Responsibilities Develops and implements programs and initiatives geared at enhancing and reinforcing the academic engagement and experiential learning capacity of the student experience. Projects programming outcomes at the program, department/division, or campus level. Interfaces directly with students, attending student programming events and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student programming initiatives and objectives. Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as well as academic and campus leaders, on shared student programming goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student programs. Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student programs against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reports on impact to students and budget and may present to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward. Serves on committees and performs student programming research across the field of higher education and at peer institutions to identify and recommend best practices. Plans and coordinates communications for student programming initiatives to ensure student participation and inclusion. May provide guidance to other Student Programming Specialists; makes process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of service. Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Required Bachelor's degree in education, social work, public affairs, counseling, business, or related field. Preferred Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field.WORK EXPERIENCE

Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. Additional Information The position supports some evening and weekend events, generally scheduled well in advance, and occasionally travels with student groups. Use of PTO may be limited when student trips are in session, particularly when students are on break. - Friday, although all Media School employees have some flexibility in setting their typical hours.
