Director of Christian Education Overview:

To serve the mission of Jesus Christ in and through Bethany Lutheran Church and in the community by providing leadership in the areas of Christian Education. To share in God's Grace with all who enter the church, while being available, affirming, and authentic.

Essential Qualifications, Characteristics, and Attributes:

A qualified candidate might have experience in education, relate across all ages, teach with passion, lead with a servant's heart, work collaboratively, and self-direct effectively. The candidate would be committed to nurturing faith, caring for others, and equipping future leaders.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with Pastor and learning ministry to plan and implement a variety of programs.
• Organize Sunday School programs
• Research curriculums
• Recruit & Train Sunday School Teachers and Substitute Teachers
• Maintain Supplies, registrations and cradle roll
• Recruit and register students; includes registrations for events
• Oversee collection of the Sunday Schooloffering.
• Act as a Liaison with Director of the correlating parish (if any)
• Plan, organize, recruit Church Camps, Vacation Bible School and other activities
• Delegate when possible
• Oversee Children's Nursery and provide staff to the Director when needed

Line of Accountability:

Reports to the Pastor and Christian Education Committee. Opportunity for evaluation will take place once a year, conducted by the personnel committee.

Pay:

$15.00 - $18.00 per hour
