Full TimeReports to: Multilingual Education AdministratorPosition SummaryThe Dual Language and Multilingual Education Liaison supports the districts Caminantes Dual Language Program and services for multilingual learners. Working with educators, school leaders, students, and families, the Liaison helps coordinate instruction, program operations, required processes, family engagement, and biliteracy initiatives across the district.
ResponsibilitiesDual Language ProgramSupport implementation of the Caminantes Dual Language Program across grade levels.
Meet regularly with grade-level teams and Spanish teachers to support planning, instructional alignment, and implementation.
Support bridging lessons, curriculum planning, and instructional materials, particularly for Spanish-language Science and Social Studies.
Help align dual language instruction with district curriculum and state standards.
Provide instructional support and coaching to dual language teachers.
Collaborate with school leaders to identify and address program needs.
Help coordinate Caminantes Family Nights, Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month celebrations, and other family engagement activities.
Support recruitment and retention efforts, including outreach to PreK families.
Serve as a liaison among program staff, schools, district leaders, and families.
Multilingual Learner ServicesSupport implementation of multilingual learner services across the district.
Assist with interpreter program operations, including recruitment, scheduling, communication, and support for interpreters and interpreter paraeducators.
Support student intake screening, documentation, placement procedures, and related compliance processes.
Communicate deadlines and assist teachers with required multilingual learner documentation and reporting.
Support the ACCESS Test Coordinator with scheduling, communication, and accommodations.
Assist with planning MCAS accommodations for English learners.
Work with school-based ELL teams, teachers, and administrators to support service delivery and resolve program needs.
Help new ELL teachers access technology, understand procedures, and connect with training.
Support Project ELL and other data systems in collaboration with the Multilingual Education Administrator and Administrative Assistant.
Co-plan staff meetings, training, and professional development on multilingual learners and effective instructional practices.
Biliteracy InitiativesMeet weekly with the Multilingual Education Administrator and attend monthly meetings with school-based Biliteracy Coordinators.
Coordinate communication with staff, students, and families about the Seal of Biliteracy and Biliteracy Pathway Awards.
Organize biliteracy club logistics, including staff, volunteers, transportation, supplies, and communication with students and families.
Coordinate biliteracy assessments by scheduling sessions with providers and assessors, managing testing logistics, communicating dates and results, and compiling data to determine awards.
MPAC and Family EngagementCoordinate parent outreach and ongoing communication about MPAC meetings and events.
Schedule and facilitate MPAC meetings and manage meeting logistics.
Work with the Multilingual Education Administrator and Administrative Assistant to support MPAC activities.
Support parents in developing events and programs for Amhersts bilingual students and families.
Minimum QualificationsValid Massachusetts teaching license in English as a Second Language (ESL/ELL).Three to five years of teaching experience or experience in a role requiring comparable skills.
