Job Description:
The Access & Disabilities Resources (ADR) office at Massasoit Community College is committed to ensuring that students with disabilities have equal, effective, and meaningful access to all academic programs, community events, goods, and services provided by the college in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. As part of the ADR team, the full-time MCCC Learning Specialist will carry a full student caseload and perform all the duties and responsibilities associated with the position. Under the general supervision of the Director of ADR, the Learning Specialist will coordinate implementation of accommodations to ensure equal access for students with disabilities. Additionally, the Learning Specialist will provide academic strategies for students and perform educational, instructional, and administrative work associated with ensuring compliance with applicable policies and laws and is responsible for administering Access & Disability Resources services , interpreting/implementing college policies and federal/state laws protecting rights of persons with disabilities, determining program eligibility, determining reasonable accommodation, and providing information/guidance for compliance with applicable laws and policies. Performs related work as directed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Determines eligibility for protection under Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504, and other applicable legislation; Reviews/evaluates diagnostic information and documentation; Determines reasonable accommodations and coordinates implementation; Maintains confidentiality of student records; Proctors student exams, including reader and scribe services; Provides one-on-one learning strategy/small group instruction for students with disabilities; Develops, proposes, and implements policies/procedures to ensure equal access to all academic programs and courses of study; Consults with faculty, administrators, and other campus personnel regarding reasonable accommodations and issues of disability in higher ed; Identifies, establishes, and evaluates program services; Serves as academic advisor for new Massasoit students and assigned advisees; Prepares/presents workshops on academic skills; Refers students to appropriate support services/resources; Compiles reports on program activities/services; Performs administrative tasks associated with department activities (e.g. - maintains database of information relating to students with disabilities); Provides professional development training for faculty and staff on disability awareness, legal requirements and issues impacting students with disabilities; Supports students in cultivating/using appropriate self-advocacy skills; Provides budgetary input; Develops resources such as handbooks and brochures; Uses computer for standard use and utilization of software programs; Attends meetings, college fairs, workshops, and other college activities; Serves on campus committees and task forces to ensure disability representation; Instructs assigned staff in performance of duties according to established standards; Participates in new student orientations, Open Houses, and other Enrollment Management events, as assigned; Provides budgetary input; Maintains professional knowledge in applicable areas; Maintains current knowledge of assistive technology in disability services; Performs related duties as directed.
Job Requirements:
Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, Counseling, Deaf Education, Teaching, or closely related field; with three (3) years experience and/or training that includes college-level learning disability services, learning disability assessment, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)/Section 504 compliance, development of policies/procedures, teaching, or curriculum development; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred Requirements:
Demonstrated experience supporting students with Executive Function Disorder Demonstrated experience supporting students with ASD and other Neuro-diverse profiles Demonstrated knowledge of Assistive Technology Demonstrated experience with digital accessibility

Full-Time state funded, benefited MCCC bargaining unit position.
Hours:
37.5 hours per week. Monday -
Friday Salary:
$72,265.00 - $80,813.00 Annually commensurate with education and experience.
Worksite:
