Summary:
The Assistant Principal assists the Building Principal in the overall leadership, administration, and daily operations of the school. Responsibilities include supervising and evaluating building staff, fostering a positive and inclusive school climate, supporting high-quality instruction, and promoting student achievement and well-being. The Assistant Principal also serves as the school's Section 504 Coordinator, ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state laws. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong educational leadership, excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills, and a thorough understanding of curriculum, instruction, school law, and the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of students.
QualificationsEducation:
Masters Degree in Education with a concentration in Educational Leadership, Administration and Supervision (or equivalent).
Certification:
Valid Massachusetts DESE licensure as a Principal/Assistant Principal (Prek-8 or Prek-6) is required. Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement is required.
Experience:
Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience (Elementary or Middle School level preferred).
Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, child development, and relevant school laws and regulations is crucial.
Skills:
Leadership and team building, effective oral and written communication, conflict resolution and problem-solving, organization, ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, data analysis and instructional coaching, technology proficiency in

DaysProfessional Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of a systematic communications process to disseminate information about the schoolSupport teachers with discipline and maintain detailed records of disciplinary referralsAssist in the recruitment and selection of staffAssist in overseeing the school bus transportation system and act as a liaison between school, parents and bus drivers.

Assist in the effective supervision and evaluation of teachers and staffAssist in the preparation for monthly faculty meetingsAssist in the responsibility for health, safety, and welfare of the children and staff within the school environmentImplement and monitor Chapter 504 regulations Facilitate 504 meetingsAssist in establishing the master schedule for staffParticipate in the districts administrative team meetingsBuild positive relationships with students, families, and staff membersMake sound decisions under pressure, maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgmentPromote an inclusive, equitable, and positive school cultureConduct other staff duties and responsibilities as directed by the principal, or the Superintendent of Schools, including administering the school in the absence of the building principal
Evaluation:
Evaluation to be performed annually in accordance with the guidelines established by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Salary Range:
$104,000 - $115,000 •Salary commensurate with experience
