About Us Arts for Learning Maryland (formerly Young Audiences of Maryland) is devoted to enriching the lives and education of Maryland's youth through educational and culturally diverse arts programs. Through Arts for Learning, professional teaching artists from all disciplines partner with educators, schools, and school districts to provide, on average, over 560,000 hours of learning in, through, and about the arts to more than 155,000 Maryland students annually. Job Description:
The Arts for Learning After-School Enrichment Site Lead is a crucial ambassador and outward-facing role. They partner with the on-site teachers and artists to promote and support the program's vision and mission. After-School Enrichment Site Lead staff are responsible for overseeing operations, providing mentorship, and oversight of all aspects of the After-School Enrichment site. This includes, but is not limited to, overseeing student achievement, daily attendance, climate and culture, staff supervision, emergency procedures, and partnership connections.
Responsibilities Include:
Establish a positive and productive school climate for all staff and students. Provide oversight of daily operations and the implementation of the learning instructional program to ensure that all students have access to unique, relevant, challenging, and engaging learning experiences. Monitor and manage the site's data (i.e., attendance and assessments), ultimately be responsible for its timely and thorough collection and storage. Ensure that parents/guardians of absent students are called daily to promote high rates of daily attendance. Attend required training and meetings as directed by Arts for Learning Maryland. Work cross-functionally with Arts for Learning Maryland to ensure smooth operation of the site, including teaching and learning, food and nutrition, transportation, student support and safety, and communications. Respond to inquiries from parents and the community promptly and professionally with consultation from Arts for Learning Maryland. Model and require that all staff engage in practices that promote high performance, ethical behavior, collegiality, and teamwork. Manage the implementation of site policies. Collaborate with and provide support for various partnerships and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Excellent organizational, people management, and logistical planning skills; punctuality, ability to meet deadlines, timely and effective communication, and ability to demonstrate and require accountability. Strong inclination to collaborate, share ideas, and work with the site staff and Arts for Learning teams. Previous experience working with Arts For Learning, thus having a strong understanding of the program culture, logistics, procedures, and all position expectations. An ability to create inclusive environments where all students' unique gifts and talents are discovered and cultivated, and where students' identities (racial, cultural, social, gender, etc.) are acknowledged, affirmed, and reflected around them. A strong desire to fully integrate into a non-traditional learning environment where flexibility is strongly valued, and new and innovative ideas are cultivated and expected from all staff. A willingness and desire to utilize restorative practices when conflict arises, both with staff and students. An ability to examine biases and understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and their impact on policies and practices, especially related to the administration of public education. Ability to have critical conversations and provide constructive feedback to Teachers, Teaching Artists, staff members, parents, students, and partners when necessary. A commitment to seeing families as partners in education and communicating with them regularly A willingness to use the school office landline or their cell phone (number blocking is acceptable) to contact parents and guardians, as needed. Understanding and appreciation of arts enrichment. A strong interest (with experience preferred) in arts enrichment, collaborative planning and reflection. Please note that staff working in the A4L After-School Enrichment program will need to be able to stand, walk, and remain active throughout the program hours. They must be able to keep up with and supervise students within and outside the classroom. Staff will also need to be able to lift up to 20 lbs on occasion when setting up and breaking down the classroom and/or preparing for performances and other events. Bending, kneeling, and climbing stairs are also frequently needed during these programs.

Learning After-School Art Enrichment Program Dates:
The program will run Monday through Thursday, following the Wildwood calendar, from Sept 8, 2026, to June 3, 2027, from 2:30 pm - 5:30 PM.
Site Lead time commitment:
3 hours per day
Compensation:
The After-School Enrichment Site Lead position is temporary, non-exempt, and not eligible for employee benefits. However, it is eligible for time off in the form of Sick and safe leave. Site Lead staff will be paid a rate of $40 per hour
Time Off:
Grant and special-funded staff, hired for short-term assignments, internships, and as temporary project-based staff, are not eligible to accrue PTO; however, Sick and Safe leave is available to these employees. Sick and Safe Leave is accrued at one hour for every thirty hours worked, and begins accruing on day one of employment. Employees may use the leave in increments of 1 hour or greater. Employees will be paid at their current regular rate for each accrued Sick and Safe Leave hour used. Employees who have questions about Sick and Safe Leave, including (i) their eligibility for Sick and Safe Leave; (ii) when Sick and Safe Leave may be used; and (iii) the amount of available Sick and Safe Leave, should promptly contact the People Operations Department ( )
