Job Description
Serves as a resource for school-based Community School Facilitators (CSFs), by providing tiered coaching, technical assistance, and professional learning aligned to the community school strategy. This role focuses on strengthening CSF practice through differentiated support (e.g., onboarding, developmental, and advanced coaching), ensuring high-quality implementation of community schools. The Community School Coach partners with school leaders, staff, students, families, and community organizations to strengthen systems that create inclusive, asset-based school environments and leverage community resources to support student success.
Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in social work, education, or a related field. Three years of experience as a community school facilitator or school related social service or community development experience. Experience in K-12 public education preferred.Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a Maryland Educator Professional Certificate or License, possession a School Counseling Certificate or License, or possession of a social worker licensure is preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstration of skill and experience in data analysis and strategic planning. Demonstration of strong leadership, management, organization, communication, and human relations skills. Demonstration of strong knowledge and skill in computer/educational technology. Demonstration of strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to appropriately maintain confidential information. Ability to work independently with minimum oversight and demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, and quality awareness. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven effective written and interpersonal communication skills, well organized, ability to multitask and work independently, promote flexibility and teamwork. The work of this class is generally performed in a school environment and within the school community before, during and after school day hours. All people employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $109. Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US. If you have military experience, you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214. Official transcripts will be required upon hire and must be sent via e-script/clearinghouse from your university. Provides professional learning through training, coaching, and professional learning communities (PLCs), including onboarding and mentoring new facilitators and differentiating support for developing and advanced practitioners. Coaches' CSFs in conducting needs assessments, asset mapping, and data analysis to inform the development and implementation of community school strategic plans aligned to school improvement goals and the community school framework. Builds facilitator capacity to convene and lead Shared Decision-Making teams or committees, engage families and community members as partners in decision-making, and implement culturally responsive, two-way communication practices. Supports the development, management, and sustainability of partnerships with community organizations that align with identified student and family needs. Assists CSFs in planning and implementing programs and services based on identified needs, while supporting data collection, progress monitoring, and continuous improvement efforts. Collaborates with teachers and school administrators to foster regular, two-way, culturally proficient communication between the school and families. Partners with school administrators to ensure integration of the community school strategy into school-wide systems and teams. Works collaboratively with the principal and stakeholders to establish ongoing relationships with community organizations, community members, and businesses to increase their involvement and maximize community contributions for school effectiveness; develop relationships with community organizations that provide needed family services. Attend school-based meetings that may include Instructional Leadership Team, PBIS meetings, School Progress Planning, Community School Steering Committee etc. Coaches around identifying resources across communities, based on the community school needs assessment, that address the needs of families within communities, and communicates directly with families about those resources, as needed. Supports the evaluation of the community school strategy through timely submission of reports and data collection. Assist schools with community school facilitator roles when a school vacancy occurs.
