SUMMARY:
LakeVille Community Schools is seeking a highly motivated administrative candidate to serve as the Director of Student Services The LakeVille Board of Education will offer the successful candidate an annual salary range of $94,620 to $102,233 commensurate with their education, skill level, and prior experience. The successful candidate will also receive a complete and competitive fringe benefit package, including
MESSA. POSITION DETAILS
The Student Services Director is responsible for the overall administration, supervision, and implementation of instructional and ancillary services for special education students. The position supervises and evaluates staff, coordinates ancillary services, Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meetings, transportation, and communication with staff and parents. It is also responsible for overseeing EL services and Section 504 services.

LakeVille is located in the northeast portion of Genesee County and is home to several parks, recreational areas, beautiful lakes, and scenic rivers. Notable features include Genesee County Parks, which boasts a large lake and campground, and the Southern Links Trailway, a 10-mile hiking and biking rail-trail that connects the communities of Columbiaville and Otter Lake. As a rural community, LakeVille is characterized by strong community ties and a spirit of collaboration. Numerous local organizations actively support the school community, fostering close partnerships between families, educators, and residents. Community pride is evident in enthusiastic participation in school and local events, and a strong sense of identity and tradition is celebrated by all generations. LakeVille offers a safe, secure atmosphere where individuals look out for one another and lifelong connections are forged. THE DISTRICT
LakeVille Community Schools serves approximately 1025 students in PreK-12th grade. The district has one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school. LakeVille Community Schools also offers early childhood education serving 3- and 4-year-olds. All staff receive free early childhood education for 3- and 4-year-olds as well as free after-school programming. The district has implemented "The Leader in Me" curriculum based on Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The district is a 1:1 technology K-12 with all students having Chromebooks. The school culture and climate match the relaxed rural community feel. The district has an active, engaged, and supportive school board that is eager to provide the right resources to ensure the success of every child.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Implements, supervises, and coordinates all programs and services for students within the local district and in other locations as assigned to the administrator, in compliance with special education and Section 504 rules as directed by the Superintendent. Facilitates and coordinates IEP meetings. Serves as the educational leader in the assigned program for the coordination and development of the school improvement plan Supervises plans for coordinating, implementing, and evaluating student behavioral improvement plans. Responsible for assigning staff to meet the individualized instructional needs of students. Coordinates the assignment of instructional/ancillary staff related to the unique needs of students. Responsible for the completion of required local, intermediate, state, and federal reports. Responsible for ensuring the collection of student, staff, and other data for Medicaid billing and other purposes. Responsible for the inventory of equipment, supplies, requisition of supplies, storage and materials, and the accounting and budgeting of funds in the assigned area of responsibility. Works to develop a system for the coordination of voluntary internships, practicum, and student teaching activities. Represents the district on various district and community planning committees. Involves parents and staff through participation in in-service and parent support systems. Develops and manages a program budget under the supervision of the Superintendent.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of five years of successful experience as a teacher of special education or in a related area of special education. Previous administrative experience in special education preferred. Master's degree required in education administration, special education, or related field. Eligible for approval as a special education director required; Eligible for approval as a director of special education preferred. Hold a valid Michigan school administrator's certificate. Valid Teaching Certificate Demonstrate advanced skills in computer utilization of educational materials and student information systems. Demonstrate advanced organizational and communication skills with students, parents, and staff. Must possess a positive work history.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of planning and implementation of programs and services relating to special education children and youth. Knowledge of local District and community resources needed or currently available for students with special needs. The ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and educational levels. Effective oral and written communication skills. Experience in the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of employees. Discretion with confidential information. Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain proficiency as required skill sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district. Demonstrated mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the essential duties of the position and the ability to travel to and from local school districts and other agencies as needed. Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and administrative guidelines.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, educational journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, staff, administrators, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. OTHER SKILLS and

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely, both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to operate computers, interactive technology equipment, and related software. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision.
