Position Overview Glen Lake Community Schools is seeking a dynamic, highly visible, and organized leader to serve as our Athletic Director / Dean of Students for grades 6-12. This dual-role position combines visionary athletic leadership with student culture and behavior management. You will oversee all middle and high school interscholastic sports while cultivating a positive, accountable, and supportive school climate for all students. Key Responsibilities Athletic Leadership & Program Management ? Provide strategic leadership, oversight, and operational support for all 6-12 athletic programs. ? Represent Glen Lake Community Schools by actively attending all league, conference, regional, state (MHSAA), and athletic director association (MIAAA/NIAAA) meetings and professional conferences. ? Maintain our high standard of athletic competitiveness while promoting sportsmanship, integrity, and student safety. ? Recruit, hire, evaluate, and mentor dedicated coaching staff. ? Manage scheduling, event logistics, officiating, transportation, and facilities for all home and away athletic events. ? Administer athletic budgets, equipment procurement, and facility maintenance in coordination with administration. ? Ensure full compliance with all Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules and district policies. Dean of Students & School Culture ? Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive culture across grades 6-12 using restorative practices and clear expectations. ? Administer student discipline with fairness, consistency, and a focus on personal responsibility and growth. ? Partner with teachers, counselors, and parents to support student academic, behavioral, and emotional needs. ? Track attendance and behavioral trends, implementing proactive interventions when necessary. ? Assist building principals with daily school operations, supervision, and safety procedures. Qualifications & Requirements ?
Education:
Bachelor's degree required (Master's in Educational Leadership, Athletic Administration, or related field preferred). ?
Experience:
Teaching, athletic administration, coaching, or school leadership experience at the secondary level (grades 6-12). ?
Certification:
Valid Michigan Teaching or Administrative License preferred (or eligibility for certification). ?
Skills:
Strong organizational and logistics capabilities; outstanding communication and conflict-resolution skills; deep passion for both high-level athletics and student development. Compensation & Work Schedule ?
Schedule:
220 Work Days (annual contract covering the school year plus designated summer preparation days). ?
Salary Range:
Regionally competitive salary, commensurate with experience with consideration for starting placement based on relevant leadership, administrative, and coaching experience. ?
