Job Summary Student Worker Eligibility:

To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker Paraprofessional you must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate educational program or plan to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as a student worker, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. If you are enrolled at a credit granting institution, you must carry at least six semester/nine quarter credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit(class) load will be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment. Job Summary Minneapolis College is currently looking for a part-time, limited Student Worker Para Professional in the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center. This position provides support to the Trio EOC Director, coordinator, staff and participants in areas of providing check-in services to new and current students, intake, data collections and entry. Direct services provided to participants, recruit new participants. Develop outreach materials and support staff presenting at workshops and staffing tabling events. This position may be eligible for partial telework according to the Minneapolis College's telework guidelines. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Assist students with Intake and check in process in Educational Opportunity Center. Research and provide referrals to appropriate advisors for career, admissions, financial aid, college choice, defaulted loans, or other concerns that may present a barrier to attending a college. Enter and maintain accurate records. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of

as a welcoming advocate of equity in education.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be enrolled at a credit granting institution or at a non-credit granting institution and must be carrying at least six semester(nine quarter) credits

Correspondence or GED classes will generally not satisfy enrollment criteria. Strong interpersonal communication skills, including telephone, scheduling, intake. Experience with diverse low-income, first generation students, and students with disabilities. Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency, incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities. Proficient with computer technology including Microsoft Office, e-mail, on-line databases, and internet Demonstrated self-starter with good organizational and leadership skills.
