Position Overview:
A 1.0 FTE Student Services Specialist position working with students, with and without disabilities, at Northpoint Elementary School in grades K-4. This position creates conditions for continuous improvement and innovation, fostering the commitment and creativity necessary to design engaging experiences to achieve results that exceed expectations. The successful candidate will be an individual who � � firmly believes� all students can and will learn, and that their learning can be directly influenced by focusing on factors over which we have control; in the need to work interdependently with teachers, school, and district leaders throughout the system, aligning the work of adults around improving student learning by meeting the needs, interests, and aspirations of students; in the need to work in partnership with staff to continuously improve practices to enhance student and family engagement, creating the conditions for equity, excellence and student success; and in personalizing learning for students, meeting academic, social, and emotional needs and aspirations so that each student feels valued and has a sense of belonging, leading to academic success.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to� ensures all students are valued, inspired, and have a sense of belonging within Spring Lake Park Schools coordinates all school special education services, including, but not limited to: scheduling staff (teachers and paras), ensuring Due Process compliance, effectively managing special education data, and collaborates on student transitions between settings to ensure they are smooth and appropriate; acts as the building leader for staff, students and families when the principal is off-site; leads the school's Pit Crew team, including review of schoolwide behavior data, documenting behavioral interventions, making referrals to behavior specialists, and communicating with families; assists with the design and implementation of professional learning at both the school and district levels; actively collaborates with the Student Services Director and other Student Services Coordinators to ensure coherence and alignment in services between schools, and has direct responsibility for district-level projects, as assigned by the Director; aligns the work of adults and creates the conditions for effective implementation of systems, to continuously improve personalized instruction and responsiveness, to meet our students' unique and varied needs; addresses barriers to learning through data analysis, critical thinking, and the use of group processing skills that are student centered and solution based; and increases the connection, engagement, and support of our families and community. Preferences We strongly prefer candidates who have exhibited... excellence in collaboration with colleagues and an enthusiasm to work with students; a demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning, as evidenced by graduate-level work or an earned degree; and participation in professional organization conferences and/or seminars related to the content area.
Licensing Requirements:
Must have current Minnesota license in Special Education, such as EBD, DCD, ABS, ASD, or SLD.
Licensing Preferences:
Possessing or working toward Administrative and/or Director of Special Education licensure, is preferred.
Salary:
Group Teachers Position 1.0 FTE Teacher Rate of Pay $53,228-$107,781/school year (placement determined based on experience and qualifications) Benefits Medical, Dental, Sick Leave, 403(b), Life, LTD, FSA Other Salary pro-rated based on start date.
