Student Support Specialist II University of Missouri-Columbia parental leave, paid time off United States, Missouri, Columbia 801 Conley Avenue (Show on map) Sep 16, 2026 Hiring Department The College of Arts & Science in the University of Missouri-Columbia. Job Description The College of Arts & Science is seeking a Student Support Specialist II to provide comprehensive support to students primarily within the School of Visual Studies (SVS), with occasional administrative support to several other departments in the College. This role aims to enhance student engagement, foster academic success, and promote a positive learning environment. Key Responsibilities:
For School of Visual Studies in particular:

Serve as a key point of contact for faculty and students, effectively addressing SVS needs and requests

Act as a liaison between Visual Studies and the Graduate School

Coordinate social media by creating engaging content and managing story assignments, while collaborating with the College of Arts & Science Communications team

Ensure security of the Bingham Gallery by managing daily opening and closing procedures and monitoring security cameras

Order keys, coordinate badge access, and submit work orders

Provide space planning support for daily activities and special events

Hire work-study students, providing supervision of clerical tasks

Hire models for art classes as needed and supervise hours

Maintain the registration process for student lockers

Schedule SVS graduate and undergraduate courses

Other administrative support duties as needed

Provide graduate program support for the School of Visual Studies, Anthropology, Classics, Archaeology and Religious Studies, Architectural Studies, Textile and Apparel Management, the School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, the Theatre Department, and the School of Music including:

Assist the Directors of Graduate Studies (DGS)

Provide graduate application reports and updates using Slate platform

Prepare required assistantship documentation for tuition waivers and insurance subsidies

Shift In-person, Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day with some flexibility for start and end times. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications Strong organizational capabilities

Attention to detail

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an office team environment

Prior experience in an academic environment, particularly in student services or administrative support roles

Familarity with social media platforms and content creation, along with experience in managing social media accounts

Interest in service-oriented career direction

Ability to build positive relationships in particular with students, faculty, and staff

Ability to prioritize duties and work independently as needed

Facility with spreadsheets and online platforms for entering and organizing data

Anticipated Hiring Range Salary Range:

$17.40 - $23.85 per hour
