: Interim Assistant Principal (part-time)

REPORTS TO
: Building Principal The Whitefish School District seeks educators with a track record of raising student achievement to join a team dedicated to providing a deeper learning instructional program to all students. SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
The Interim Assistant Principal assists the Principal in the smooth, efficient, and effective administration of Muldown Elementary School. The Assistant Principal provides administrative and instructional leadership that enables elementary students to develop a love of learning and fulfill their potential for intellectual, social-emotional, and physical growth.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Montana teaching license with a K-12 Principal endorsement Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, or a related field Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent development Ability to relate to and work with children and adults Ability to communicate effectively and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents/family members, teachers, support staff, supervisors, and the general public Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from students, parents/families, staff and the community Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two years successful elementary school leadership experience Experience as an elementary school classroom teacher and/or administrator Knowledge and experience with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
(including but not limited to): Instructional Leadership & Student Achievement Assist in developing, implementing and evaluating instructional programs and activities to ensure the success of all learners Assist the principal as an instructional leader in the building Analyze student performance data as a basis for curriculum improvement and staff development Actively participate as a team member in MTSS School Operations & Safety Supervise daily opening and dismissal routines, student safety plans, auxiliary duties (recess, cafeteria, busing), and assuming full administrative responsibility for the building in the absence of the principal. Supervise the implementation of the student handbook to ensure student awareness of the school's policies and procedures In collaboration with the building principal, supervise extracurricular events and activities School Climate & Culture Work with the building principal and staff members to create a climate that is conducive to student learning—emphasizing mutual respect, student engagement and safety, and building staff morale Student Behavior, Discipline & Attendance Assist the principal in the resolution of discipline problems and maintain records of any action taken to ensure that the discipline policy is administered in a fair and just manner and that an optimum learning environment is maintained. Understand and apply due process in a manner that respects children's and adult's dignity Use positive behavior intervention techniques for responding to student behaviors as well as restorative practices Oversee attendance monitoring systems, identifying poor attendance or tardiness patterns, and coordinating guidance referrals or remedial plans Communication & Collaboration Counsel with students, parents and staff to resolve problems and concerns Actively participate as a team member during meetings with faculty, staff and administration in reaching educational goals Work collaboratively with all schools in WSD for consistent K-12 transitions Coordinate and collaborate with the building principal on all academic, behavioral, and extracurricular programs and activities Staff Supervision & Evaluation Assist the principal in the supervision and evaluation of staff members as assigned General & Administrative Responsibilities Know and follow all administrative procedures and board policies Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT
: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The employee frequently will work irregular or extended hours while performing the duties of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to be able to hear conversations in quiet environments.
MENTAL/MOTOR DEMANDS
: While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). Guidance and reinforcement are infrequently available. The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity.
