8/3/2026; Permanent Full Time with Full Benefits 10 month, 8 hour per day position
Position Summary:
Coordinates and directs the activities of school library media support personnel including library media assistants, technical assistants, student assistants, and/or volunteers. Provides the leadership and instructional resources and services for implementation of a school library media program that serves as an integral part of a student centered educational process.
Qualification and Special Requirements:
Teacher must hold a valid NC Teaching License with Media Coordinator certification; or hold a current teaching license and be willing to complete a Master's certification program in School Library Science from an NC approved licensure program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of subject(s) taught; thorough knowledge of secondary education principles, practices and procedures; thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching; thorough knowledge of school division rules, regulations and procedures; ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior; ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, students and parents; ability to operate a personal computer.

Assesses learning and information needs of students and staff Plans and works collaboratively with teachers to use appropriate resources that address curricular needs and learning goals Works with the principal and school leadership team to provide flexible access to the instructional services of the school library media coordinator Instructs students and staff in the effective use of the media center and its resources Incorporates information literacy into day-to-day instruction
