The HoUS will understand, nourish, grow and lead the Upper School program and serve its staff, students and parents. The HoUS will report directly to the Head of School and is charged with fulfilling the standards set forth in the job portfolio and all other applicable standards. This person will lead and guide the upper school toward the fulfillment of the ACA Mission. The HoUS will serve on the academic and administrative leadership teams as well as work closely with fellow colleagues toward the dynamic execution of the Mission. Primary Qualities The Head of Upper School position consists of three primary qualities.
They involve:
Administrative Leadership and Management, Instructional Leadership, and Assisting the Head of School in achieving the mission of the school. Secondary Qualities While not as important as the primary qualities, secondary qualities are important facets to a strong Head of Upper School. Advocation and care for the schools' Vision, Students, Fiscal Responsibilities, Admissions and Public Relations are some examples. Qualifications Hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited postsecondary institution in the specified field of teaching. Desire to pursue an advanced degree. Hold ACSI certification or will participate in a program to complete the requirements for certification within two years of being contracted. Have the appropriate training in teaching methods or similar experience to be a highly effective instructor. Demonstrate a reasonable level of computer literacy and have basic proficiencies in Microsoft Office, Outlook, accessing the Internet for instructional purposes, and use of ACA's school communications and management software. Possess evidence of other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the school administrator. Clearly articulate a Biblical philosophy of education as well as an understanding of the classical or liberal arts in preparing lessons, instruction, and evaluation. Maintain a professional appearance indicative of a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty in dress, words, and actions consistent with school policy and the teachings of scripture (Philippians 4:8-9).
