Job Description

The rural community of Newport, NH is seeking a collaborative educational leader to facilitate the ongoing process of improving and maintaining academic performance. We seek a superintendent who is a student-centered instructional leader committed to the continuous growth of teachers, leaders, and students. The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction, data-informed decision making, professional learning, effective instructional practices, and systems that support student achievement, particularly in literacy and mathematics.

The Newport School District is located in the Dartmouth/Sunapee region, close to Concord, top-tier medical facilities, with opportunities for higher education, access to the arts, and four-season outdoor sports.

Known as a school community that works together to cultivate and enrich student success, this is a great area to raise a family, where friendliness and cooperation is demonstrated daily.

Our school district has two campuses that serve approximately 600 students. The Superintendent manages 200 employees with an executive leadership team.

These small schools, where every student is seen and valued, provide a quality curriculum that supports all students, multiple extended learning opportunities, and runs a first-class Career and Technical Center.

The successful candidate will have the following skill sets which can be leveraged to effectively lead our school district:

Strong transparent communicator who shares communication openly, proactively, and respectfully with all stakeholders.

Develops and empower principals and educators as instructional leaders.

Financial acumen and proficiency in effectively developing and managing budgets

Leadership in development and implementation of curriculum to improve student outcomes.
