Posting Details Position Information Job Title Tech Help Student Assistant Fall 2026-Spring 2027 Department The Help Center Job Description/Duties Student staff duties include but are not limited to providing telephone and occasionally face-to-face customer service to our campus community including students, faculty, and staff. Some of the daily tasks include: troubleshooting myRedDragon access assisting with password resets configuring mobile devices to the SUNY Cortland network assisting with Microsoft Office applications troubleshooting general hardware and software issues gathering the required information to escalate any ticket that the student is not able to resolve on their own Days/Hours Needed Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday Noon to 8 p.m. All tech students are required to attend a full day training session prior to the start of the fall semester, typically the Friday before classes begin A minimum availability of 10 hours per week is required Campus Location/Bldg. The Help Center/Memorial Library Required Qualifications Must be a current SUNY Cortland student Eagerness to provide customers with technology help Willingness to learn new technologies Good written and verbal communications skills Experience troubleshooting issues on PCs or Apple computers Experience troubleshooting issues on smartphones Preferred Qualifications Experience using SUNY Cortland web-based applications (i.e., Outlook Web Access email, Microsoft Office 365, Brightspace, Blackboard, and myRedDragon) Intermediate or advanced knowledge of PC and/or Apple Computers Intermediate or advanced knowledge of iPhone (iOS), Android, and/or other smart phones/tablets Experience working with multiple web browsers Experience with troubleshooting network connectivity issues Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Physical Demands Special Conditions for Eligibility Contact Name(s) & Email(s) Peter Dawes Peter.
