POSITION
: Director of Student Services
CERTIFICATION
: School District Leader (SDL) or SBL and eligible for Administrator certification
QUALIFICATIONS
: NYS certification and experience as a School Social Worker, School Counselor, or School Psychologist; building-level administrative experience preferred but not required.
SALARY :
Base starting salary $95,000 - $100,000; exceptional qualifications may be considered for a higher base salary

OVERVIEW
The Director of Student Services will: Build collaborative relationships with district and building administrators, faculty, staff, students, families, and community partners by directly overseeing the Family Support Center. Work closely with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Technology, Director of Special Programs, district and building leaders, counselors, psychologists, social workers, and other student services professionals. Coordinate services across departments to reduce duplication, strengthen communication, and ensure students and families receive timely and appropriate support. Use data, stakeholder feedback, and evidence-based practices to evaluate programs and recommend improvements. Represent the district at internal and external meetings, committees, and community partnerships as assigned.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Services and Family Support Center Provide leadership and oversight of the Family Support Center (FSC), including implementation of FSC programming and services. Supervise assigned clerical staff. Coordinate scheduling of Family Support Center appointments and services. Secure qualified providers for daytime and evening FSC appointments. Develop and maintain partnerships with outside agencies and community organizations. Serve as the liaison between the school district and external student/family support organizations. Coordinate grant writing and pursue funding opportunities to expand student and family services. Provide flexible availability, including evening and after-hours responsibilities, to meet student, family, and community needs. This includes planning evening educational presentations for parents and students. District Safety, Student Wellness & Compliance Serve as District Safety Committee member in collaboration with district leadership. Serve as the district point person for DASA (Dignity for All Students Act), TIG (Trauma, Illness, and Grief), and provide leadership with district threat assessment and lethality assessment protocols. Oversee district crisis planning and regularly update the District Crisis Plan. Coordinate district implementation of safety and student-support systems. Update and maintain the District Code of Conduct in collaboration with the Superintendent of Schools and appropriate stakeholders. Support district-wide systems and procedures related to student safety, attendance, behavior, and wellness. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Restorative Practices Serve as District DEI Coordinator and provide oversight and support to building-level DEI leaders and committees. Coordinate district-wide DEI initiatives and monitor implementation. Provide leadership for restorative practices and support the continued development of restorative systems throughout the district. Promote equitable access to student services, opportunities, and supports. Social-Emotional Learning and MTSS Provide district-level oversight of SEL Benchmark assessment implementation. Coordinate vertical alignment of the district's
K-12 SEL
curriculum. Work collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Technology and the Director of Special Programs to implement and strengthen Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) district-wide. Provide professional learning opportunities related to SEL, student wellness, restorative practices, MTSS, and other areas within Student Services. Monitor data and implementation practices to support continuous improvement in student services. Student Services Staff and Supervision Supervise and support Student Services Content Area Specialists. Provide leadership and support to student services personnel. Lead the hiring process for Student Services positions. Attendance, Enrollment, and Student Support Coordination Provide district oversight of K-12 Attendance Policy and Procedures and participate in related committees. Serve as District McKinney-Vento Coordinator. Coordinate district responsibilities related to homeschool students. Coordinate district processes for students receiving educational services while hospitalized, including collaboration between General Education and Special Education. Oversee and coordinate eAcademy/ON Academy services. Serve as Community Schools COSER Coordinator. Ensure appropriate communication, documentation, compliance, and follow-through across student support programs. Extracurricular Activities and Student Engagement Provide district-level oversight of extracurricular clubs and activities. Develop and implement systems to monitor student participation in extracurricular opportunities. Evaluate club and activity offerings to ensure students have access to diverse, inclusive, and meaningful opportunities. Monitor implementation of the extracurricular handbook and ensure compliance with established procedures. Update the extracurricular handbook and related procedures as needed. Identify opportunities to expand student engagement and participation across grade levels and student populations. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools. This position requires regular interaction with students, families, staff, administrators, community agencies, and outside service providers. Some flexibility in the daily work schedule is necessary to accommodate the Family Support Center's operations.
