Job Description City School District of New Rochelle Embracing Diversity:
Driving Success The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a short term Interim Elementary School Assistant Principal. General responsibilities of the position include assisting the Acting Principal in leadership, coordination, supervision and management of the school program and operations. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: The Assistant Principal, under the direction of the building Acting Principal, implements and enforces school board policies, administrative rules, and regulations.
In the absence of the building Principal, the Assistant Principal shall assume the duties and responsibilities of the building Acting Principal.
Administrative/Leadership experience is required.
Essential tasks of the Assistant Principal include but are not limited to the following:
Assist the Acting Principal in developing and maintaining an effective educational program consistent with State and Federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies, and goals of the School Board; meeting and conferring with students, parents, faculty and staff; maintaining records and files; preparing reports.
Assist the Acting Principal in the overall administration of the school; interpret and enforce school and school district policies and regulations. Assist the Acting Principal in planning and implementing a professional development/growth program for teachers and staff.
Assist in coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other school support services; help conduct safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body; deal with special cases as necessary.
Maintain a variety of files; prepare periodic and special reports as required.
Supervise teachers and departments assigned by the Acting Principal.
Conduct Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) evaluations, inclusive of post observation conferences.
Perform related work as necessary
Valid NYS School Building Leader or School Administrator/Supervisor certification at time of application mandatory.
