SUNY Oneonta invites applications for an Academic Advisor position in the Academic Advisement Center. In this role, the Academic Advisor works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and campus partners to support undergraduate students in achieving their academic goals and to advance the university's mission of helping students grow intellectually, thrive socially, and live purposefully. Academic Advisors support students in a fast-paced, student-centered advising environment and are part of an intentional advising model that integrates both professional and faculty advising. Advisors provide general academic advising and targeted outreach to diverse student populations, including students exploring academic options, addressing academic performance concerns, and understanding degree applicability related to financial aid. This position plays a vital role in promoting student success, retention, and timely degree completion. The Academic Advisement Center at SUNY Oneonta provides timely and accurate academic guidance to undergraduate students from acceptance through graduation. The Center collaborates with faculty and staff to support academic planning and promote student success, retention, and timely degree completion in alignment with the university's mission and core values. Duties include but are not limited to: Utilizing DegreeWorks and related advising tools to assist students with course selection and academic planning, including enrichment opportunities such as internships, study abroad, research, etc. Assisting students with major and academic program options, including career exploration. Assisting students with understanding degree-applicable credit as it relates to financial aid eligibility. Working with current and incoming students regarding pre- and post-transfer credit evaluation. Connecting students to appropriate campus resources and support services. Working with undecided, at-risk, and/or probationary students to support academic progress. Creating pre-set course schedules for incoming students. Participating in Orientation activities, including presenting to incoming students and assisting with schedule adjustments. Engaging in outreach and advising-related programming, including occasional evening and/or weekend events. Assisting students with understanding academic policies, procedures, and institutional requirements. Supporting the University and the Academic Advisement Center at campus-wide events as needed.Salary:

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. Minimum of one year of professional experience or two years of paraprofessional experience in a student services or advising-related area within higher education. Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.Additional Qualifications:
Effective written communication and presentation skills. Experience using student data or student information systems, such as Ellucian Banner, DegreeWorks, or other related software.Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree. Knowledge of federal and state financial aid rules. Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic and student support offices. Demonstrated ability to support students toward positive academic outcomes. Bilingual. Experience working with and serving diverse student populations.Additional Information:
