Learning Objectives:

Objective 1: Professional Communication and Ethical Conduct Students will develop professional communication skills by scheduling appointments, demonstrating a compassionate and confidential demeanor. They will also learn the ethical principles of privacy and confidentiality relevant to a mental health setting, ensuring they can handle sensitive student information with discretion. This objective focuses on the core skills needed to be the first point of contact for students seeking help, which is crucial for building trust and ensuring a positive experience. Objective 2: Foundational Administrative and Organizational Skills The students will gain hands-on experience in administrative tasks by preparing materials for workshops and events. This includes organizing documents, setting up presentation spaces, and coordinating resources. This objective will teach the student how to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and contribute to the smooth operation of departmental events, which are essential skills for any professional environment. Have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Consistently maintain 6 credit hours each semester; Maintain satisfactory academic progress; Adhere to College's confidentiality policy; Successfully pass background/drug screening; Answer phone and take messages; Clerical duties such as filing, data entry, copying and faxing; Open and sort mail; Strong interpersonal communication skills; Willingness to learn new technology; Assist with special projects; Other duties as assigned.
