Job Description
School Summary Ohio Connections Academy, a tuition-free K-12 public virtual school that students attend from home. Authorized under state law by the Ohio Council of Community Schools, Ohio Connections Academy (OCA) is state certified and open to students throughout Northeast, Northwest, Central, Southeast, and Southwest Ohio. Position Summary and Responsibilities The Assistant Principal will work collaboratively with the Principal and Administrative Team, both within their assigned grade band and throughout the entire school. Additionally, the Assistant Principal will work extensively supporting families and students, in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and attendance team. The Assistant Principal will help manage all of the site-based school operations. This individual will work closely with key centralized service centers including School Support, Enrollment, Technical Support, Materials Management, Fulfillment, Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Facilities Management. It is also anticipated that this individual will manage a range of special projects and duties.
Responsibilities:
Manage the implementation of the proven Connections Academy operational protocols Oversee staff observations, professional development, and evaluations Support school administration in managing the school's budget and various grants Support student accounting functions including attendance maintenance Manage reconciliation between Connections Academy's data systems and state and local student information systems; Provided local support for facilities acquisition and maintenance; Act as the human resources liaison for school staff in the areas of benefits, leave tracking and the maintenance of local files; Act as the technology liaison for teachers and administrative staff; Monitor regulatory compliance and support preparation for legislative and financial audits in collaboration with the Manager of Internal Audits; Monitor all enrollment requirements and communicate requirements to the Enrollment Department; Provide state testing support for all types of test administration including logistics for scheduling and tracking/following up on participation Support contracting for supplemental student services Monitor and track all school-based assets Support the Marketing Department with student outreach, marketing and public relations Stay current on the state's policies, procedures and legislation Be available to handle all emergencies All other duties as assigned Requirements Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience Administrative or management experience within a school environment is preferred Master's degree preferred Ohio teacher and administrator certification, or ability to obtain administrative licensure within a set timeframe Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment Technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office and Google Suite) Experience in managing people a plus Ability to travel frequently (as needed ) Effective communication skills, both written and verbal Good organizational skills Must be able to work well with other employees Must be able to work independently Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication Prospective Employee Benefits Page - HUMANRESOURCES SERVICES
