Building Principal (K-8) 2026 - 2027

Legacy Academy of Excellence Mansfield Reports to:
Superintendent Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Building Principal is to lead and manage all aspects of school operations, instruction, and culture to ensure academic excellence and the success of every student. The Principal serves as the instructional leader of the building - providing vision, supervision, and support to teachers and staff, ensuring fidelity of curriculum implementation, and maintaining a safe, positive, and high-performing learning environment. The Principal works collaboratively with district leadership to uphold Legacy Academy of Excellence's mission, promote continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with all state and organizational requirements.
Qualifications:
Strong belief that all students, including those from low-income backgrounds, can achieve college and career readiness Demonstrated ability to lead instructional improvement and motivate staff toward measurable student achievement Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills Deep understanding of Ohio Learning Standards, assessments, and accountability systems Experience in teacher evaluation (OTES), professional development, and data-driven decision-making Ability to maintain a positive school culture centered on respect, rigor, and relationships Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills Flexibility in adapting to changing priorities and district initiatives Valid Ohio Principal License (required) Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field (required) Minimum 3-5 years of successful classroom teaching experience (required) Prior administrative or building leadership experience (preferred)
Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership in implementing the school's mission, vision, and goals Supervise and evaluate instructional staff in alignment with OTES and district policies Lead the implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices to ensure academic rigor and student growth Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, discipline, safety, and staff coverage Foster a positive, inclusive school culture that promotes student engagement, staff collaboration, and family involvement Analyze and use data to drive continuous improvement and monitor student performance outcomes Collaborate with district leadership to ensure compliance with ODEW requirements, state assessments, and reporting deadlines Lead professional learning communities (PLCs), Teacher-Based Teams (TBTs), and staff development sessions Manage communication between families, staff, and district administration effectively and professionally Coordinate building-level initiatives, events, and programs that support student achievement and school community Ensure adherence to all policies related to attendance, safety, and student conduct Oversee intervention, RIMP, and IEP/ETR implementation in collaboration with support staff Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of high-quality teachers and staff Maintain accurate records and documentation required by state and district mandates Serve as the primary liaison between the Mansfield Campus and district leadership Perform other duties as assigned by the
