The College Credit Plus and Undergraduate Student Success Coach provides proactive academic advising, student support, outreach, and retention services for a defined caseload of College Credit Plus (CCP) and undergraduate students. Approximately 70% of the position is dedicated to CCP responsibilities, including primary responsibility for all In-House CCP students and, as needed, assistance with students at the Centers in Pike, Jackson, Vinton, and Meigs Counties. The remaining 30% is dedicated to undergraduate students in designated majors. Undergraduate majors and caseload assignments are determined by the Executive Director of Student Success based on institutional needs.

Grounded in the tenets of the Appreciative Advising framework, the Success Coach builds relationships with students and supports their academic, personal, and professional growth. The position requires regular travel to partner schools to advise In-House CCP students and collaborate with school guidance counselors, as well as travel to the Centers located in Pike, Jackson, Vinton, and Meigs Counties to assist students as needed.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

College Credit Plus Advising and School Partnerships (Approximately 70%)

Serve as the primary Student Success Coach for all In-House CCP students.

Travel regularly to participating schools to provide on-site individual and group advising, student support, and outreach.

Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with school guidance counselors, administrators, the Director of CCP, faculty, and internal student support offices.

Guide students through course selection, registration, academic planning, degree and credential pathways, transfer considerations, and applicable College policies and deadlines.

Help CCP students and families understand academic expectations and the possible academic and financial effects of adding, dropping, or withdrawing from courses.

Monitor student progress and conduct timely outreach when academic, attendance, registration, or other concerns may affect student success.

Coordinate referrals and interventions with guidance counselors and appropriate College offices while maintaining student privacy and confidentiality.

Support the onboarding of new CCP students and the transition of graduating CCP students to undergraduate enrollment when appropriate.

Undergraduate Advising and Student Support (Approximately 30%)

Manage a defined caseload of undergraduate students in specific majors assigned at the discretion of the Executive Director of Student Success.

Provide accurate and timely advising related to curriculum requirements, degree pathways, registration, academic policies, and progress toward graduation.

Assist students in developing and maintaining semester-by-semester academic plans aligned with their educational and career goals.

Use proactive outreach and strengths-based advising to identify barriers, support persistence, and connect students with appropriate campus and community resources.

Adjust to changes in assigned majors or caseload responsibilities as institutional and student needs evolve.

Collaboration, Retention, and Administrative Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Executive Director of Student Success, the Director of CCP, school guidance counselors, faculty, staff at the Centers located in Pike, Jackson, Vinton, and Meigs Counties, and student service offices to provide coordinated support.

Travel to the Centers located in Pike, Jackson, Vinton, and Meigs Counties and assist students as needed, including providing advising, outreach, registration, and other student support services.

Promote student engagement, learning communities, and support networks among peers, faculty, staff, and mentors.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential advising records and documentation in institutional systems.

Use student information systems, advising platforms, and communication tools to track interactions, progress, outreach, and outcomes.

Follow applicable institutional policies, CCP requirements, and federal and state privacy regulations, including FERPA.

Participate in meetings, training, and student success initiatives as assigned.

Perform additional job-related duties as assigned in support of College Credit Plus and student success priorities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with high school and college students, families, guidance counselors, faculty, and staff.

Ability to establish productive relationships with school partners and represent the College professionally in off-site settings.

Ability to advise and support students in individual and group settings and through in-person, virtual, phone, and email communication.

Ability to learn, interpret, and apply complex academic program requirements, CCP guidelines, policies, procedures, and deadlines.

Ability to work independently, manage a travel schedule, and balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, including first-generation, dual-enrolled, place-bound, and geographically dispersed students.

Proficiency with student information systems, advising software, virtual communication tools, and standard office technology.

Sound judgment, attention to detail, discretion, adaptability, and a student-centered approach to problem-solving.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position is based on the main campus and requires regular travel to partner schools and, as needed, the Centers located in Pike, Jackson, Vinton, and Meigs Counties and other assigned sites.

Mileage reimbursement is provided in accordance with community college travel and reimbursement policies.

The work schedule must accommodate school operating hours, advising appointments, and institutional needs.

Occasional evening or off-site work may be required to support students, school partners, and outreach activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

Valid driver's license and the ability to travel regularly to partner schools, the Centers located in Pike, Jackson, Vinton, and Meigs Counties, and other assigned sites.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in Education, Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field.

Experience in academic advising, student success, or student services.

Experience working with CCP, dual-enrollment, or secondary-school students and partners.

Familiarity with Appreciative Advising or another strengths-based advising model.

Demonstrated open-mindedness, professionalism, and a growth mindset.
