Job Description
SunGarden Montessori School Community Support Job Description SunGarden Montessori Children's House is dedicated to the education of the whole childwithin purposeful, respectful environments based upon the insights and inspiration of Dr. Maria Montessori. SUMMARY The Community Support Team spends time during the school day supporting classrooms directly, breaking classroom staff, supporting playground time, subbing, helping with snack preparation, dishes, laundry, and materials prep. The position can be part-time or full-time and may include supporting the Early Care or Aftercare program as well as other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with the Guides in each classroom to create an authentic, consistent, and caring Montessori learning environment when giving breaks or subbing. Prepares snack in the kitchen for classroom communities, and provides kitchen support by doing dishes and laundry throughout the day. Cleans and organizes the kitchen, adult bathroom, and laundry area. Actively supervises Outdoor play times (AM and PM) as needed to maintain ratios as outlined by DELC. Provides toileting support for the children. Prepares materials with direction, shifts the classroom space as needed, cares for and prepares indoor and outdoor environments daily. Is flexible and enjoys wearing many hats in the context of a small, collaborative school environment. Has excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills. Reports directly to the Head of School as their direct supervisor. Responsibilities of Every Employee Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance in compliance with Offer Letter terms. Practices self care and prepares themselves to be present and focused on the child's experience in active collaboration with team members. Conducts themselves in a professional, respectful, positive, and collaborative manner and observes grace and courtesy in interaction with all members of the school community. Cultivates positive relationships with children, staff, and parents/guardians. Observes agreed-upon rules and boundaries in all forms of communication and provides appropriate feedback. Is excited to learn and grow as a professional and appreciates feedback. Shows commitment to professional growth. Understands and takes initiative to accommodate for the legal and logistical constraints of a small staff. Administrator may at times assign tasks that are outside of the main job description. Understands and executes verbal and written instructions, policies, and procedures, and implements them independently. Attends and actively participates in staff meetings, In-Service Days, and community events as collaboratively decided with the administrator. Maintains a professional appearance and dress as appropriate for their job duties. Abides by the policies of SunGarden Montessori School as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Honors confidentiality of families, children, and the School. Follows licensing guidelines as outlined by ELD. Bachelor's Degree in Education, Communications, Social Work, or related field, and/or 2 years work experience in an early childhood learning environment, demonstrating patient, respectful, and compassionate work with children Has a record of consistent attendance, job performance, and positive collegial and collaborative relationships Is organized, attentive to details, and a careful observer COMPENSATION andBENEFITS 10
month position, 30 - 40 hours/week. $20 - $23/hr.. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with education and experience. 64 hours PTO + 5 paid holidays + 16 hours dedicated to professional development $200 professional development funds; more available and subject to approval by Head of School Opportunity to participate in group health insurance (currently with Providence), effective after 30 days, for employees working more than 30 hours Absence of less than 1 hour at the beginning or end of your work day for a doctor's appointment once a month does not count towards your PTO, but needs to be communicated and be approved by the Head of School Opportunity to participate in Oregon Saves IRA Participation in our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 50 % School tuition discount 15 prep days per year for hourly employees Paid time off for closures due to inclement weatherCERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS
Demonstrates or completes within 30 days of hiring - Enrollment in the Central Background Registry (CBR) Food Handler Card CPR/First Aid/Epi pen Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (RRCAN) Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety (INCCHS) Foundations for Learning (FFL)Professional Development:
Complete a minimum of 15 hours of documented training each school year. 8 hours in Child development (CD) and 1 hour in Health, Safety and Nutrition (HSN). All program members must submit documentation to Oregon Registry Online (ORO) and present a copy to SG Admin.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
