Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and strategic School Business Manager to lead the financial and operational functions of our educational institution. This vital role combines financial expertise with leadership to ensure the school's resources are managed efficiently, compliance standards are met, and strategic goals are achieved. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach to fiscal management, risk assessment, and business development, fostering a sustainable and thriving learning environment. As a key member of our leadership team, you will drive financial planning, oversee budgeting processes, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements while supporting the school's mission and growth objectives. Responsibilities Manage all aspects of financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making. Oversee accounting functions such as general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, cost control, and cash flow analysis using advanced financial software tools. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), IAS (International Accounting Standards), ASC 606 revenue recognition standards, and governmental accounting requirements. Lead risk management initiatives by conducting risk analysis, implementing internal controls, and developing mitigation strategies to safeguard school assets. Coordinate treasury management activities including investment management, liquidity planning, and fiscal policy development to optimize resource utilization. Prepare detailed financial reports, interpret complex financial data for stakeholders, and communicate insights effectively through clear report writing. Drive business development efforts by identifying new revenue streams, managing partnerships, and exploring innovative funding opportunities aligned with the school's mission. Supervise financial staff and foster a culture of continuous improvement in financial practices and strategic planning initiatives. Requirements Proven experience in corporate or non-profit accounting with a strong understanding of
IFRS, IAS, GAAP, ASC 606
standards, and governmental accounting practices. Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, budget management, cost accounting, risk analysis, and fiscal management within an educational or similar environment. Proficiency in financial software systems along with strong skills in account analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, account reconciliation, and general ledger accounting. Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements related to education funding and compliance management. Excellent leadership abilities with experience managing teams and driving strategic initiatives in a fast-paced setting. Strong technical accounting skills including accrual accounting, revenue management, cash flow analysis, and investment management. Exceptional communication skills for preparing comprehensive financial reports and interpreting complex data for diverse audiences. A relevant professional qualification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or equivalent is highly desirable.
