Summary The Service Department Head is responsible for overall results of the department including safety, quality control, profitability, and customer satisfaction for commercial and industrial service work. Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The lists below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Minimum Qualifications Education :
Minimum high school graduate, bachelor's degree preferred.Experience:
At least 5 years in commercial roofing leadership, service work and service department head experience preferred.Driver's License:
Required Certifications:
OSHA30, First Aid, and CPR Training preferred.Languages:
Must be fluent in English, and Spanish is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Extensive knowledge of commercial roofing systems including tile, single-ply, metal, waterproofing techniques and products. Working knowledge of trusses, light weight concrete deck systems, and HVAC closely related to roofing. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Scheduling Software. Experience with a CRM and estimating software is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Possess a motivated, professional, and self-starter attitude. Ability to work independently in the field and manage priorities and calendars. Essential Functions Provide safe working environment for BRC crews, subcontractors, and others. Maintain and improve quality control. Motivate / direct office and field employees assigned to department including interviewing, hiring, training and promoting employee growth. Coordinate sales effort with salesman and provide necessary support for success of team. Oversee setup, processing, and invoicing work orders. Review aging reports and resolve any issues. Promote continual growth of department at the rate determined each quarter by General Manager. Continual improvement of quality control and customer satisfaction. Coordination with Department Heads and Service Managers located at other branches. Physical Demands Requires the ability to lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds. Requires the ability to stand, walk, and balance for long periods of time. Requires use of abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing. Requires seeing details at close range. Requires repetitive movement, bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, stooping, or crawling. Work Environment Working in temperatures above 90°F or below 32°F. Working at heights and in other potentially dangerous conditions. Exposure to extremely bright or inadequate lighting. Exposure to loud, distracting, or uncomfortable noise levels. Exposure to contaminants, hazardous materials, and potentially hazardous equipment. Exposure to minor injuries such as burns, cuts, bites, or stings. Performing work where errors may have significant consequences. Strict adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations is required.
