Job Description

Description of Job Duty:
The Student Services Coordinator plays a vital role in the academic journey of undergraduate students at Tennessee Technological University's College of Business. This position is part of an advising team, offering in-person and online support to students, with a focus on one-on-one meetings. The coordinator will work closely with sophomore to senior students across all business majors, guiding them towards successful graduation. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field. One year of related professional experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a focus on student-centric communication. Strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate as part of a team. Ability to manage a caseload of students effectively. Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution is preferred. Experience in collegiate academic advising or student services. Engagement with NACADA - The Global Community for Academic Advising. Familiarity with campus technologies including Tech Connect and Eagle Online. Knowledge of university policies and procedures, especially those related to the College of Business.
Essential Functions:
Advise students on course selection, degree progress, and graduation planning. Implement retention strategies, identifying at-risk students for early intervention. Provide information on campus and business college resources, events, and experiential learning opportunities. Educate advisees on university and academic program policies and procedures. Refer students to faculty resources as needed, offering comprehensive academic support. Utilize technology to track student academic performance and communicate regularly with advisees. Review transcripts for students with major changes or transfer credits. Engage in student recruitment activities, including on-campus and community events. Meet and provide information to prospective students and guests at the COB Student Success Center. Collaborate with the advising team to ensure a cohesive and effective student support system.

Work Hours:
Part-time position. 26.25 hours per week.

Salary:
Commensurate with education and experience. Level S4, Grade 8.
Benefits Information:
Benefits include the accumulation of annual and sick leave on a prorated basis equal to the percentage of employment, and thirteen (13) pro-rated University holidays. Other benefits include pro-rated retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits.
