Advising and Completion Job Summary This position provides comprehensive academic advising and student support aimed at promoting retention, success, and goal attainment. The Success Coach meets with students through in-person, phone, and virtual formats to discuss registration, academic progress, and long-term transfer or career goals, using a coaching approach that fosters a growth mindset. The role includes managing student communications, responding to faculty early alerts for at-risk students, and collaborating with program chairs to ensure students understand program requirements and stay on track for graduation. Success Coaches also connect students to key campus resources-such as counseling, tutoring, financial aid, and career services-and support specialized populations, including students on academic suspension by developing personalized recovery plans. In addition, Success Coaches contribute to targeted teams (e.g., transfer, change of major, academic recovery, early alerts) and participate in committees, professional development, and ongoing training to enhance student support services.
Responsibilities and Duties:
As a NCTC Graham Team Member, provide a positive experience for students, parents, guests, and colleagues.
Academic Advising:
Provide advising to students regarding OSAs, certificates, associate degrees, class selection, transfer plans, Provide support related to academic recovery and academic suspension.
Student Support Services:
Assist students in navigating services including Tutoring, OSD, Trio, Career Services, Completion Center, Counseling, and Community Services.
Financial Aid:
Provide students with assistance in completing the FAFSA, checking application progress, and answering questions, Contact FA staff and connect students to FA staff as needed. Red River Promise Assistance for
Graham High School:
Visit GHS at assigned times to assist students with ApplyTexas, FAFSA, Scholarship Applications, and Coaching; Review student application progress.
Student Admission Files:
Receive admission documents from students and enter into Docubase/JRM, Review items needed for admission/ready to register/Assist students in completing/submitting items.
Testing:
Serve as testing proctor, Check students in/out for testing, Monitor testing from office, Serve as alternate for Testing Coordinator.
Events:
Assist the Director in planning, setting up, and facilitating campus events
Committee Service:
Serve on NCTC committees s as needed
Payments:
Serve as a support in processing payment
Transcripts:
Serve as a support in printing transcripts as needed
Customer Service:
Answer NCTC Graham Phone Line, Welcome students, parents, colleagues, and guests Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change based on the needs of the department and the institution. Required Education Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution Master's degree preferred Required Skills & Abilities Previous work experience in a higher education environment Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to efficiently multitask Service-oriented demeanor Adaptive, creative, and patient Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team Effective communication and ability to build rapport Proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to learn learning management system: Canvas; and database management systems: Jenzabar and Salesforce Proficient and experienced in public speaking and speaking in large groups. Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-changing environment. Ability to maintain accurate records and input data in a clean, professional manner. Required Experience One year (1) of experience supporting students directly in an educational, counseling, or resource-navigation role - Two years preferred Preferred Experience Advanced knowledge of computer technology and software applications in order to utilize specific software related to student advisement preferred Special Instructions to Applicants Subject to a criminal background check. Salary:
$49,727. Located on the Graham campus. Travel may be expected between campuses and to off-site locations. North Central Texas College ("NCTC") is an equal opportunity employer.
