Description :
Provides basic academic advising support to prospective and enrolled undergraduate students under supervision. Focuses on routine advising, program requirements, and student support services. 1. Advises enrolled and prospective students regarding academic programs and curriculum. 2. Delivers general academic advising on degree requirements, course selection, and academic policies and procedures. 3. Assists students with registration and schedule planning. 4. Refers students to campus resources (tutoring, counseling, financial aid). 5. Maintains accurate student records in advising systems. 6. Supports orientation and onboarding programs. 7. Responds to routine student inquiries via email and appointments. 8. May assist in recruiting high school and community college students and may make presentations at special events. 9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Experience will be considered in lieu of education.
MQ:
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. No experience required. All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.
