To provide support to campuses and departments in all matters pertaining to students, parents, and the community to enhance student learning.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Services, or Criminal Justice, required Valid Texas driver's Class C license, required

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to communicate well in English and Spanish Ability to follow oral and written instructions Have basic knowledge of the physical layout of McAllen Have basic computer skills Knowledge of geographical locations and physical layout of the school district, required

Experience :

Three (3) years of experience in working with children, parents, and community members, required

Note:

Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS

Assist the Director for Student Support Services in the preparation of the Student Code of Conduct, Student Handbook, and Discipline Management Plan. Keep informed about current legislation appropriate to job assignment. Keep the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Director for Support Services informed regarding the status of those duties assigned. Oversee the student/parent/community complaint process for the district by working effectively with two (2) parties, or more, and mediate any concerns brought forth by utilizing conflict resolution techniques and find a resolution to successfully resolve any disputed issue. In the absence of the Director, must be able to oversee the grievance procedure. Co-chair the District Disciplinary Committee on Expulsion Hearings. Must be able to interpret, enforce and apply the Texas Education Code Chapter 37.007 and 37.009 and the Student Code of Conduct during hearings. Enforce

(student bullying) in accordance to Texas Education Code Chapter 25.0342 by coordinating and strengthening the school districts guidelines by providing staff development to campuses to identify bullying of students during the investigatory process and determine if the definition of bullying exists. Perform staff development of district personnel on topics related to job duties. Assist in the duties and responsibilities related to Open Records Requests. Assist Director for Support Services on duties and responsibilities related to

investigations. Assist Director for Student Support Services on duties and responsibilities related to Title II of the Federal Statutes and district policy. Assist Director for Support Services on duties and responsibilities related to rezoning of school boundaries. Work directly under the guidance of legal counsel to disseminate and interpret legal documents such as court orders, divorce decrees, subpoenas submitted by campuses to ensure compliance. Exercise authority and give directives to campus administrators in the interpretation of legal documents. Assist District Staff to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws/policies affecting job responsibilities and duties. Interpret, enforce and exercise significant discretion on Article 15.27 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedures to appropriate campus personnel as required by Texas Law. As the Superintendent's designee, must notify campus personnel of any Sex Offenders registering or moving into campus attendance zones. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards. Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
