The Assistant Head of Middle School must possess a teaching certificate and at least three years of successful classroom experience. A master's degree in education, school administration, or a related field is preferred. He/she must exhibit evidence of a strong Christian witness and must be an active participant in a local Bible-believing, evangelical church. Interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills must be proven and strong.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Management Maintain necessary information in Blackbaud and assist teachers in setting up and maintaining class grade books. Create MS report cards. Supervise all users for FAWeb and Blackbaud, providing tech support as needed. Assist in importing grades and printing all report cards for the Middle School. Registrar - Under the guidance of the Head Registrar, complete withdrawals, records requests and maintain student contact information. Share the oversight of the admissions process for the Middle School. Coordinate the ordering, inventory, and distribution of books, teacher resources and student supplies. Advise and assist in the formulation of educational school policy, including the periodic review and recommendation of changes in school policy. Promote the use of technology in the teaching/learning process School/Organizational Climate and Improvement Promote a positive, caring climate for learning. Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds. Communicate effectively with students and staff. Create, maintain, and support a learning environment that is academically, emotionally, spiritually, and physically safe. Commit to preparing students for their future by building relationships, promoting learning that is rigorous and relevant, and developing each student's unique talents and skills. Participate in the development of school improvement plans with staff, parents and community members. Administration, Fiscal/Facilities and Personnel Management Observe teachers. Provide input to the Head of Middle School as they prepare teacher evaluations and identify teachers at risk. Model effective teaching techniques by presenting lessons or units on an as-needed basis, allowing teachers to observe and discuss methodology after the lesson. Serve as a resource for teachers who seek help and ideas; work with individual teachers as needed to strengthen instructional skills. Assist the Head of Middle School and teachers in designing programs to challenge strong students. Lead in the planning and implementation of regular curriculum reviews. Research curriculum and materials to help establish the strongest curriculum for FBCA. Lead faculty in planning and implementation of campus academic improvement. Help plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments and extracurricular activity schedules. Assist with safety inspections and safety drill practice activities. Student Management Ability to make decisions based on what is best for the students. Treat students, parents, and community members with respect. Ensure students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods. Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable. Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students and teachers. Professional Growth & Development Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignments. Supervisory Responsibilities Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with the Head of Middle School. Supervise teachers and other staff members as assigned. Fulfill the duties of the Head of Middle School in the event of an extended absence, including supervision and disciplinary responsibilities. Perform other tasks consistent with this position as directed by the Head of Middle School.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Occasional school travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
