Jul 1, 2026 Job Description Kurn Hattin Home and School for Children, a mission-driven residential school serving students in grades K-8, seeks an exceptional educational leader to serve as our next School Principal. Nestled on 280 acres in Westminster, Vermont, Kurn Hattin provides not only academic instruction, but also a nurturing residential community where children are supported socially, emotionally, and academically. Our children live and learn on campus, and our school is at the heart of a comprehensive program designed to help each child grow in confidence, resilience, and character. The Principal plays a vital leadership role in shaping an environment where students feel safe, valued, and inspired to discover their strengths and purpose. The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience creating inclusive, student-centered learning communities that honor the whole child. A deep commitment to authentic curriculum development, culturally responsive practices, and differentiated instruction is essential. The ideal leader will also possess strong expertise in faculty development, instructional technology (including STEAM SmartLab), and diverse assessment strategies that promote both academic achievement and personal growth. As a member of our child services leadership team, the Principal must be a collaborative and visible presence within the community - someone who builds strong relationships with students, staff, and families, and who believes deeply in our mission.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a school leadership role
  • Experience in residential or mission-driven educational settings preferred
  • Vermont State Principal Certification preferred
  • Master's Degree in Education preferred
