Purpose:
In cooperation with the Teacher Librarian, ensure the efficient and effective operations of the media center for the benefit of students and their education as well as the entire school community.
Essential Functions:
1. Support and assist students and staff with needs when in the media center. 2. Receive and process media materials. 3. Maintains files and records as needed. 4. Makes basic book repairs, process damaged books for bindery. 5. Maintains the inventory and reports for the center. 6. Maintains reserve shelves. 7. Set up and operation of media center technology. 8. Support center set up for use by other departments, or for special events. 9. Provide student supervision as needed. 10. Other related duties as needed to support the media center, school, and district in general. Successful performance of this position requires an individual who can demonstrate the following competencies: 1.

Confidentiality:
Maintain employee and employer confidentiality and handle confidential matters in an ethical and professional manner.
Professional Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required. AA/AS degree or some college level education preferred. 2. Knowledge of technology to include Mac and PC use, audio visual equipment, and other related technologies. 3. Experience and/or knowledge of working in a media center. 4. Experience and/or knowledge of conducting information research. 5. Experience working with children, preferably in a Middle or High School setting. 6. Acquire and maintain first aid/CPR certification.
Work Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 50% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Benefits:
School Employee Benefit Board (SEBB) Eligibility determination: All eligibility determinations are based on rules in Chapters 182-30 and 182-31 of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC). If the position is anticipated to work a minimum of 630 hours in a school year, then that position would be deemed benefit eligible. SEBB benefits include medical, vision, dental, long-term disability and life insurance. Supplemental coverages are also available.
Retirement Eligibility determination:
A certificated position participates in the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) which requires at least 5 months of 70 or more hours of compensated employment during a school year to be eligible for Washington State Retirement. A classified position participates in the School Employee Retirement System (SERS) if the position is expected to require at least 5 months of 70 hours or more for two consecutive years (initially) of employment.
