Job Description
Jefferson County Schools seeks applicants for our Administrator in Residence (for Aspiring Assistant Principals) Program. Placement in the program will allow for current Principals to provide relevant leadership opportunities and experiences to prepare aspiring assistant principals to be future successful education leaders. Under the Administrator-in-Residence Program (AIRP), Principals will provide and involve individuals in appropriate administrative responsibilities they will eventually perform and oversee as a school building leader. This is a county-based program.
The identified, eligible AIRPs will receive a paid opportunity while the placements serve as experience for completing their program of study. Professional Teacher Salary Scale based on degree level and verified experience

EMPLOYMENT TERM
Minimum 210 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; extended terms may be established by JCBOE. Any out of county applicant will be issued a one-year contract with no rights to transfer, reduction in force, or preferred recall status, but will accrue teaching seniority.
SALARY:
Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Jefferson County Professional Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level. $2000.00 AIRP stipend (pro-rated if necessary)
EVALUATION
Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State
Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and JCBOE Evaluation Policy
JOB SUMMARY
Principals should provide relevant leadership opportunities and experiences to prepare aspiring assistant principals to be future successful education leaders. Under the Administrator-in-Residence Program (AIRP), principals will provide and involve AIRs in appropriate administrative responsibilities they will eventually perform and oversee as a school leader. This is a county-based program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Support administration in the front office
Shadow in the supervision and evaluation process of the faculty and staff, including extracurricular assignments. Provide support to teachers.
Assist in the analysis of student achievement data and improvement plans.
Assist in the preparation of Federal, State, and County reports
Assist in development of the master schedule
Shadow and assist in coordinating ancillary services necessary for the operation of the school, including, but not limited to, budgeting, transportation, support services including child nutrition and custodial services, pupil services, health and social services, federal programs, special education, common planning, knowledge of best practices relative to curriculum & instruction and school improvement, technology integration, and ADA compliance including 504 plans when legally appropriate
Assist the staff with student relations, staff development, community relations, student attendance, student supervision, the instructional program, and the Local School Improvement Council. Participate in student discipline matters and intervene with student conflict when appropriate
Implement and administer regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to student conduct
Assist in arranging for substitutes and providing appropriate orientation
Participate in parent and staff meetings with administration when appropriate
Support administration in distribution and inventory of keys, textbooks, and instructional supplies and materials
Promote a positive school environment, including positive utilization of the faculty senate
Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal

To be eligible for the
JCS AIRP
position, the teacher administrative candidate must meet the requirements:
A current teacher with a minimum of three full years teaching experience, with satisfactory evaluations;
Holds an administrator license for the state or be currently enrolled in a State Board of Education approved education administrative program;
Demonstrated evidence of initiative and leadership;
Successful completion of an interview;
Maintains or upgrades skills by working toward self-improvement, reacting favorably to constructive criticism, and attending in-service training and available workshops; and
Administrative recommendation.
The greatest weight will be given to successful completion of an interview and administrative recommendation.
