An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

POSITION TITLE
Teacher - Elementary
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum B.S.
Degree:
Certification in Elementary Education. Meets requirements set forth by federal regulations. Working knowledge of computers and software.
REPORTS TO
Principal or Principal's designee
SUPERVISES
Students
RESPONSIBILITIES
Determine individual and class needs. Establish objectives and plan learning experiences. Implement activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere. Exhibit positive human relations skills. Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication. Evaluate the educational program and/or student progress. Communicate with parents/guardians, colleagues and community groups. Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication. Maintain and submit records and reports. Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy and state and federal rules and regulations. Engage in personal and professional growth and demonstrate professional ethics and leadership. Implement the planning and conduct of daily learning activities within the classroom as defined by the State Course of Study and the Board of Education. Shall perform any other position related duties as assigned. Maintain the confidentiality of student records.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and work year to be in accordance with the current applicable salary schedule.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy of Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
