Job Description
About the Role Prescott Valley Charter School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered 2nd Grade Teacher who is passionate about building strong academic foundations while fostering a genuine love of learning. This is not a passive, lecture-based classroom. We are looking for an educator who understands that students learn best when they are actively engaged—thinking, discussing, exploring, and applying their learning. The ideal candidate creates an environment where students feel confident, supported, and appropriately challenged. What You'll Do Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in reading, writing, and math Use a variety of instructional strategies including hands-on learning, guided practice, and small group instruction Build strong foundational literacy skills (phonics, fluency, comprehension, and writing) Develop students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners Allow students to progress based on individual readiness rather than a fixed whole-class pace Utilize AI-supported, adaptive learning tools to personalize instruction and support individual student growth Collaborate with special education and ELL staff to support struggling learners and ensure all students make meaningful progress Monitor student progress and use data to inform instruction Analyze student data regularly and adjust instruction to drive measurable academic growth Foster a positive classroom culture with clear expectations and strong relationships Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and needs Collaborate with colleagues and administration to support student success Who You Are You believe all students can learn and thrive with the right support You are engaging, structured, and intentional in your teaching You balance high expectations with strong relationships You are comfortable integrating technology, including AI-supported adaptive learning tools, into your instruction You are highly data-driven and use student performance data to guide instructional decisions You value collaboration and work effectively with support staff to meet diverse student needs You are reflective and open to feedback and growth Qualifications Bachelor's degree required Valid Arizona teaching certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment (required) Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (required) Elementary teaching experience preferred Why Join Us?
